Good morning Motley Meese! Hope your weekend was lovely. Mine could have been exhausting – 410 miles each way to take Mom back to Tennessee, but Kidlet drove all but one hour the whole trip. Payback for all my years as a chauffeur, I guess.

This week’s shot is from a couple of weeks ago in Catoctin, MD. This is unretouched as it came off the camera. I just loved how this flower almost glowed in the light.

The common Moose, Alces alces, unlike other members of the deer family, is a solitary animal that doesn’t form herds. Not so its rarer but nearest relative, Alces purplius, the Motley Moose. Though sometimes solitary, the Motley Moose herds in ever shifting groups at the local watering hole to exchange news and just pass the time.

In recent years Australia has seen a tremendous increase in what their politicians call ‘boat people’. Their refugees come from violence torn areas like Iran and Afghanistan as well as a number of other nations.
