Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

Daily Tubes for Friday October 9, 2009

Lookie, lookie, here comes cookie! And see who won the Nobel Peace Prize this year.

I actually think the Nobel committee is giving the medal to the people of United States for electing Barack Obama as our President. I suspect that the world had almost given up on us over the past decade.

The President accepted the award with typical aplomb and a colossal dose of humility.

Well said Mr. President.

Daily Tubes for October 7 & 8, 2009

Attacks from the republican party on Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi are standard fare. However, earlier this week, republicans stepped over the line even for them. More from Huffingtonpost.com

The National Republican Congressional Committee on Tuesday mocked Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for daring to question Gen. Stanley McChrystal.

“General Pelosi has no problem sacrificing her own credibility as the Obama administration and liberals in Congress attempt to walk back a strategy they strongly advocated just months ago,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Nancy Pelosi continues to make party politics a higher priority than our national security. Rather than listening to a four-star general’s assessments on Afghanistan, General Pelosi somehow believes she is better suited to craft our country’s military policy.”

If Nancy Pelosi’s failed economic policies are any indicator of the effect she may have on Afghanistan, taxpayers can only hope McChrystal is able to put her in her place.

For whatever reason, the NRCC did not criticize Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.) who called McChrystal’s recent public statement “pretty odd.”

“I think the place for a woman is at the top of the House of Representatives,” responded Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.): “It’s evidence [Republicans] long for the days when a woman’s place was in the kitchen. Now a woman is third in line for the presidency… But it’s not surprising, coming from a party that’s 80 percent male and 100 percent white.”

Speaker Pelosi had this response for Ken Spain and the NRCC.

Is Spain channeling Lumpybag?

Over in the Senate it is SSDD.

Does anyone else think that McConnell looks like a turtle?

John posted this tube earlier in my last diary. He called it the GOP anthem. It seems more like their fight song to me.

The pugs are anti-cheerleaders and Groucho’s song is a very fitting theme song for GOP.

Daily Tubes for October 5 & 6, 2009

Good morning, Motley Moose!

Apparently Texas Governor Rick Perry has been a naughty boy. No, not like that. Tsk, tsk, tsk, get your minds out of the gutter people. Actually, I would rather he had just been licentious.

Headzup allows the Governor to explain for himself.

Ugh, he makes me wish for more repugs like Sanford. Remind me to never go to Texass.

You know the repugnants have screwed up when Joe Scarborough is offended by them.

You think this one might come back to bite them in the butt? Just add it to the stack of crazy.

Here is a fairly mild example of the pug version of the funny.

These people are from another planet. I just wish they would return from whence they came. However, I suppose they ravaged theirs, and it can no longer sustain life.

Tuesday September 29, 2009: The Day in Tubes

The Onion breaks open another little known crime! Warning for sexual content and brief nudity.

Ew.

Bernie Sanders and BraveNewFilms take on the relationship between Washington and corporate interests.

Daily Tubes for October 1 & 2, 2009

Good grief. How could it possibly be October already? And with October upon us, it suddenly feels as if winter is coming early to Minnesota. However, we had such a beautiful September (really, all the summer we had this year), I think we got a bit spoiled.

The Onion has exposed the real reason for the recent dip in President Obama’s polls.

How dare he have a happy functional family! Perhaps we need a special investigator to check this out. Where is Ken Starr when you need him;~?

An amazing (and rare) display of Democratic courage appeared in the House of Representatives this week!

Oh noes! My world has been turned upside down! Won’t someone stop this man before it spreads;~?

Wednesday September 30, 2009: The Day in Tubes

Ok. I skipped Tuesday. It is partly done, but I was feeling a bit down yesterday, after the Senate Finance Committee defeated two different amendments for a public option in their health care reform bill. I couldn’t get to the funny and I didn’t want to start screaming my rage on the Moose.

So I will let someone else do that today.

Wow. I am sorry, but that was one of the coolest things I have seen in a while. A few repugnant’s got pretty upset with Representative Grayson and demanded he apologize.

So he did. Sort of.

Heh. As you can imagine, Lumpybag was outraged. Headzup spoke with him earlier today.

I wonder what his co-pay is for all of those oxy’s?

Monday September 28, 2009: The Day in Tubes

Happy Monday to you. Or perhaps we are just happy it is almost over. It has been a rough few days for us due to a moderate health scare, but I am pleased to report all is well and we can start getting back to normal. Whatever the heck that means;~J

I am not sure the same can be said for the health care reform bill in Washington. I hope we can stop efforts by certain Senators to turn HR into a boondoggle for big pharma, big health care, and big insurance companies.

BraveNewFilms is trying to expose what the Baucus bill might mean for all of us.

Call your Senators and let them know that you demand a public option. The number is 202-224-3121. Do it now. Tap. Tap. Tap. Finished yet? Oh. Ok, you can wait until morning, but after that, NO MORE EXCUSES!!!

Lee Camp gives us a few examples of the oppositions view.

In a world where republicans lead…oh wait. Been there, done that. Let’s not go there again. Please?

Daily Tubes for September 24 & 25, 2009

It looks as if Glenn Beck got a BIG honor today. Headzup explains.

Finally, somebody sees the real Glenn Beck. Oh wait, Michele Backmann also had some fine things to say about Beck and the rest of the fox cult leaders.

Fox is the only “news” channel telling the truth? Have I mentioned lately that I believe Ms Bachmann is legally insane? The evidence is mounting.

The Onion has revealed ways to better secure our homes. We just need to arm our children!

Aw, isn’t he cute? Cheers to our future psychopaths of America.

"Capitalism: A Love Story"

I was wondering where I was going to put this tube. It seems appropriate here.

Why appropriate? Just a new movie called “Capitalism: A Love Story” by Michael Moore, set to release October 2, 2009. Here is a snippet.

Jesus. Does Michael want us to have armed rebellion against the wealthy? Hmmmmm. Perhaps we could sic the birther/anti-healthcare/teabagging nuts on Wall Steet…

Daily Tubes for September 21, 22 & 23, 2009

Again with the lack of daily tubes?! Oy. I am the big suck lately. Sorry to all (3 or 4, heh) of my fans. To be perfectly honest, I have been having trouble getting motivated.

This gave me a chuckle though. It is rather long, but worth viewing. Sort of.

I now understand why Lumpybag doesn’t do live television anymore.

The Onion gives us a batseye view of Congress.

It is so hard watching the sausage being made…

Finally! Some real solutions for the health care crisis. Courtesy of Lee Camp.

I am waiting for my Wally! Yay!
