AIDS Walk Austin – my first diary of 2013

Hi, it’s me again, raising money for AIDS Walk Austin again. Yes, it actually is that time of year already. This is the 26th year for the Walk, and I’m walking for the 26th time. This year, AIDS Services of Austin helped me make a video, so come into the main diary & see it.

Interrogatories

Do you know your Bacon Number (how many degrees of separation you are from him)? Use the handy link: http://oracleofbacon.org/ (you’ll have to enter someone you know or have met, or a friend of a friend, unless you have some Hollywood credits.)

Do you invest in the stock market at all?

What additions/subtractions to your neighborhood would make it a perfect place to live?

What’s for dinner tonight?

Do you enjoy speaking in front of a crowd, or does it make you nervous?

Motley Monday Check in and Mooselaneous Musings

Good morning Motley Meese! Hope your weekend was lovely. Remember to let your peeps know where you are!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

Here’s today’s Motley Monday Shot of the Week, taken last year at Harper’s Ferry, WV along the C&O Canal Tow Path. Just a friendly face in the crowd.

Texas Special Session Blues (I’m Just a Bill Remix)

This brought back memories for me, and I still use the original “I’m Just a Bill” to teach my students about how a bill becomes a law.

Organizers are hoping to get this to go viral.  Please pass it on if you can:

Hawaiian Sunset.  Very likely Kam3 beach, Maui.

I tend to look at newspapers’ web sites around the world and country.  I especially look for not the headline, but a separate aspect of the story.  And I love followups.

Any thoughts on news?

Adobe CS2 is available at this time

http://www.adobe.com/downloads…

I got it installed in 64 bit Windows 7

Three tricks were needed that the PDF misses:

Set the Files to extract as XP SP3 with admin rights. (Right Click/Properties/Compatibility)

Extract the files in the order indicated. 2, 3, Extras, 1. It seems weird but the PDF is clear on this point.

Make sure that they land in the proper default locations. They didn’t in my case and I don’t know why. I had to browse to get them in the right places.

After running 1 the install starts automatically. It also has a problem with the default location.

Replace “C:Program File (x86)Adobe” with “C:Progra~2Adobe”.  The installer may not “light” the OK button.  If so, click the browse button then the cancel button and “OK” should activate.

This goes back to 16 bit DOS . . .

Odds & Ends: News/Humor

I post a weekly diary of historical notes, arts & science items, foreign news (often receiving little notice in the US) and whimsical pieces from the outside world that I often feature in “Cheers & Jeers”. For example …..

FATHER-SON? – film star Robert Redford and TV star Trevor Donovan (90210).

OK, you’ve been warned – here is this week’s tomfoolery material that I posted.
