Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

Tuesday Morning Herd Check-in

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, … or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

high of 54 – snow forecast for Thursday (ACK ACK ACK)

Wow am I tired – still wading through orange comments.

I need to stop and finish Bkos 🙂

    off to get more coffee!

Good morning Jan and Meese- I’m still trying to adjust to DST 🙁

under cloudy skies. Denise, sorry about the snow. We’re getting rain, thankfully, at some point.

I’m over at my son’s house, waiting for Miss Pink Cheeks to wake up. Little kids don’t understand daylight saving. I don’t understand it either, as everyone swears it’s absolutely no use.

Managed to write a whole scene of my Ostara story last night. Do hope it’s not going to turn out to be boring.

Grandson in Austin is home recuperating from his surgery and my good friend here in town will be coming home today after spending the night in the hospital post-surgery.

Lots going on this week–birthday tomorrow, party on Saturday. Have to tidy the house so it won’t frighten the friend who’s coming to stay with me.

    Everyone have a good day!

Here’s our warm day before the plunge — it’ll be 80 this afternoon. High around 60 tomorrow. I swear I’m getting outside after my appointment this afternoon.

Eating breakfast (the frittata turned out well – onion, spinach, mushroom & just enough egg to hold the vegetables together — and a non-paleo ingredient, some Daiya brand vegan cheese – I had an open container & wanted to get it used up), drinking tea. I really need the tea because I was lying awake when the damn alarm went off at 5. And the alarm goes off so early because I’m still really slow at re-wrapping my feet/legs after a shower. Not that it made a difference today because as I said, I was awake already.

Today: stay awake till appointment at 3, get some exercise, get some damn sleep.

I got out of the hospital in time to enjoy it before it vanished into today.

Yes, I am actually up and around early enough to be here before everyone leaves.

Hope everyone has a great day.

but the chances are 10%.  On the other hand tomorrow’s high of 47 is supposed to happen around 1 ack emma and we get winter (OK, winter for the South) again for a day.

QC Finance Committee tonight.  Just found out our election commissioner died in the last few days – not sure exactly when or of what but he was only 67 – he was the reason I never worried about whether or not my voted counted, I knew it did.  Now, well, we’ll see who takes that job.  He was a nice guy.  I didn’t see or talk to him often, but I’ll miss him.  Time to remember Walt Kelly’s comment – “Don’t take Life so serious.  It ain’t nohow permanent.”

Off to dog my faculty – early progress reports are due by noon (3 are still outstanding) and Fall textbooks are due by Friday (15 outstanding).  Have a lovely day.  {{{HUGS}}} bf

Even careful fun with a thoughtful guest can be exhausting…..gotta take it real easy this morning.

Thanks for having my diary up on the front page so long. The fundraising isn’t going very well, though.

I’ve been sending the links out via email mostly (I also posted this at GOS, which has a little different focus), and am getting some comments back about how I might not want to post on Daily Kos about this, because it is a “pro-abortion” site. Evangelicals could refuse to donate.

WHAT???? Pro-abortion? Is that what reproductive health is now?

First of all, this can’t be about abortion. Abortion is illegal in all contexts in Congo. I don’t know if it’s identity politics or what, but my intention is not to hurt ACT for Congo by writing about them.

This makes me sad. I will probably post a diary about it at GOS this afternoon. Maybe it’s catharsis. Maybe I will be able to make a point that diffuses the identity politics a little. In any case, though, I mean no harm.
