Sunday All Day Check-in for the Herd

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

On weekends (and holidays), you may find the check-in thread earlier or later than normal because … it is the weekend! Moosies need their beauty rest:

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce … or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

basking in the tropical temp of 33 degrees here in Saugerties NY – light snow predicted.

Gah! So many days to wait till we are out of winter and into spring – which comes around May here.

Doesn’t seem real cold this morning but they’re predicting rain and snow for tomorrow. I’m scheduled to put on a cardmaking session for Arts & Crafts at Seniors in Action . If school’s cancelled or two hours late the senior center is closed. I have mixed feelings.

    I don’t have a very good plan.

I only have a couple of heart stamps, oops, Valentine’s Day. I need to let people emboss with the heat gun, paint in outline stamps, make patterns with smaller stamps, and whatever. There’s more to it than just pressing a stamp to paper but I need enough supplies for everybody to make a picture or a pattern. Collage is possible, I have pretty bits. Need to add more pretty bits and bring my best glue sticks. Shall I bring my watercolor pencils? I don’t want to lose even one but they’re so much fun to work with.

I need moral support. Maybe the Kitty Bowl will inspire me to productive energy.

Eating breakfast, watching Up — still on New Jersey. tried to download the new U2 song, I have to wait till the game starts. Sigh.

Today: figure out what I’m going to eat next week, buy groceries, cook.

I still have a really big bruise from Thursday, one of the places they couldn’t get an IV in. Going to wear long sleeves. Oh — it is much colder than yesterday. It is foggy & 39 — yesterday at this time it was in the 60s. It’s going to freeze tonight, just 30 though. The real freez-y freezes aren’t till later in the week, I’l wait to cover the plants till then.

I may watch Homeland this afternoon — didn’t get to last season. Otoh, I’ll be in the kitchen, maybe something where I don’t have to see every second, like Star Trek or something from the Whedonverse. And the nanosecond that damn game starts, open iTunes & download that song.

and they’re predicting 5 to 8 inches overnight into tomorrow! Gulp!

Daughter is on her way back to Austin with her family after the funeral. Just checked the Weather Channel and it was saying there’s rain in Dallas but later it will turn to freezing rain and ice. This has been an unusual winter for our area and for the whole country, I should think!

Jan, I’m going to look for your Imbolc post. I really like this particular sabbat and wish my Circle had been able to celebrate it this year. Oh, well, perhaps we’ll be able to celebrate Ostara.

Planning a quiet day. I will be in the same room as the TV that’s showing the SuperBore but if it goes into overtime I’ll be going downstairs to watch “Downton.” No way am I going to miss that just because of footbore!

Hope everyone will stay warm, healthy, and enjoy the day. A blessed Imbolc or Candlemas to you all.

I’m late and lazy this morning…..listening to Sunday Morning Baroque and enjoying my tea. Ron walked up the stairs to the car this morning….so nice to see him just walking, not shuffling along with the walker. Another week of daily IV meds then we’ll see what’s next.

We’ll watch the big game of course. Our son is going to a Superbowl party and we just cleared out both of our fridges to make an appetizer tray for the dogs who will be there too. Heide (grand puppy lab) was sniffing in anticipation!

    they have me in tears

I’m more than you know, I’m more than you see…

you don’t see me but you will, I am not invisible, I am here

There is no them, there’s only us…..

off to sob, then recover and write an AIDS Ride diary
