Tuesday Morning Herd Check-in

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, … or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

    here in Saugerties NY

Top story on my news feed is still the polar vortex.

Stay safe and warm everyone who is getting hit with this!

Brrrr! Again. It’s in the 20s. My morning commute is just barely long enough for the heater to get warm. And the stupid cedar trees are putting out pollen like crazy, so we all have runny noses…. This is just…..blech. But it won’t freeze tonight, and by Friday afternoon, it’ll be 70. So at least there’s that. The pollen will still be here, though.

Having a meeting with fellow Dem club officers this evening. Then tomorrow is Wed/Fri/day. I’m thinking about going to a movie Thursday – Long Walk to Freedom at the mall, maybe. Or Dallas buyers Club for a 2nd time, at a nice theater. Also, must put exercise on the schedule.

I’m able to stay in my nice warm house this morning because my son has a delayed work schedule today. It’s very nice for me, not having to rush out into the cold at 7:15. It is very cold but very bright this morning, with glacier-blue skies and moderately strong sunlight.

Elder son is coming round at 10:30 to take us to the Museum down the road. It’s a bit of the Air and Space Museum. We’ve never been there, just as I’ve lived in the Washington, DC area for almost half a century and have yet to visit the White House.  Have walked by the grounds in which it stands, of course, everyone has–just haven’t been inside.

Other than the Museum, have no plans for today other than carrying on cleaning up my office, the looks of which are beginning to improve.

What is everyone else doing today?

    at least the sun is shining.  They closed campus yesterday – not sure why as the roads and temps weren’t any different from today and they didn’t even give us late arrival today – anyway, that’s why I wasn’t here to check in.  Slammed on emails etc – open enrollment started yesterday and all of our upper division classes are either full or being held for graduating seniors plus I’ve got to finish up the Fall 2014 classes and enter December leave – which is why I’m so late checking in today 🙂 Y’all stay warm.  {{{HUGS}}}

seems to be driving Santa Ana winds in LA… yesterday it was about 80 and very clear here.

My Auburn Tigers almost pulled off the greatest turnaround of all time… from 0 SEC wins  last year, a new coach this year… got to the BCS championship, and lost in the last 1:19 minutes. dadgummit.

    happy 2sday everyone!!

With the fog and rain it will be twilight all day, but no cold and no snow so no complaints!

I’m getting ready to resume my before Christmas focus of getting this house better organized and easier for me to live in. The next shuffle will involve finding a new home for the antique daybed in RonK’s basement study so we can move the roll top desk and wood file cabinets into it’s place. This will put all desks messes in one room and make the library upstairs a room to read and relax  in.

Ron is a bit worried about the whole idea, but oh well!
