Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

Sunday All Day Check-in for the Herd

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

On weekends (and holidays), you may find the check-in thread earlier or later than normal because … it is the weekend! Moosies need their beauty rest:

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

I have the heat cranked up and have winter robe and slippers on as I drink my morning java.

The new plaint against Obama/Sebelius re health care website is “it’s his/her Katrina moment” NOT!!!

Charles Pierce (hat tip to poco on orange) has answered it in a spot-on post.

This is not just coming from the right- their “kin” on the (um) “progressive left” are lobbing this around so in case you read any comments echoing this filthy slur – you can link to Pierce’s remarks:

here in northern Delawhere – 46 headed for about 60, and sunny.

I’m paying for all of yesterday’s extra activity. Aches and pains and stiffness and exhaustion, oh my. But it was worth it, and the man has brought me pumpkin pie for breakfast! Delicious, if I do say so myself.

Eating breakfast, watching Up. We apparently live in a world where we’re hoping for the “reasonableness” of Lindsey Graham. And Liz Cheney is an outsider.

Getting a new (to me) 6 drawer dresser. My favorite tri coach is leaving town & I’m getting it from her. So also I get to give her a goodbye hug. But I’m clearing out space for it, so getting some exercise this morning.

Baking sweet potatoes. Going to make a dish with them & black beans for lunch next week. Sticking to the same breakfast.

And it’s supposed to  rain today, which is nice.

The sound of the rain is a welcome break from the seemingly endless fog however. I’m snuggled close to an ice pack this morning, moving it from my back to my knees, hoping the next trip down the stairs will be easier.

Yesterday’s activity focused on the garage…..a truck load of no longer needed boat stuff went to the consignment store, the car is loaded for a goodwill drop off, the recycle bins and garbage cans are full….and I can finally use my floral arranging table again!

The next garage task is to clean out the no longer needed lumber and paint and get all the gardening stuff organized in one place. It feels good to finally be making some progress towards the goal of making this place easier for us to live in.

I have mixed feelings about the time change next weekend. In my perfect world, we would fall back 30 minutes … and leave it there. 🙂
