Thursday Morning Herd Check-in: Greetings of the Moosekin

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Let the greetings begin!

It is about 70 degrees here in central NJ. We were all up early, and the kitties were asking to be fed. Doug is making espresso. It’s all good.

up on the pavements, and we’re looking forward to the weekend. It never did get as hot yesterday as the weather people predicted, because of the rain.  That was fine with me–I’m tired of the heat.

Work this afternoon at headquarters; tomorrow, packing for the beach, along with a possible dinner out. It’s all good here, too.  ðŸ™‚

Eating breakfast, drinking tea. In a skirt. Sigh. There’s a reception this afternoon where we “get” to meet the candidates for agency director. Like anyone cares about our opinion. Anyway, wearing a skirt. I had to untuck my shirt because it wouldn’t stay in. Lucky it is straight-bottomed so I can just wear it out, right? (straight skirt)

Back to 100s today. No workout after work, I’m going to my friend’s campaign event (poli – I’m supporting Andy Brown for county judge), where he says I can ask people about the Walk. And Lloyd Doggett is supposed to be there. So that’ll be my day. At least the after work part will be good.

here upstate NY. I hope the torrential rain that hit NYC yesterday doesn’t happen up here – my husband said it was horrible.

Spending the day writing, at the puter, and getting used to using Chrome until I get tech stuff fixed – thanks Jan for devoting time to trying to solve my problems 🙂

Foggy and 70 here in Chicagoland.  Going up to 88.  Muggy.  Last street fair tonight in town.  So we will do that.  I need to start cleaning the house for the party this weekend.  And workout.  I just left a “please don’t bomb anyone else” message on the White House page.  Guess I need to call too.  Also my senators.  Time to make some noise.  Hell, I feel like marching about this.  I am sick of endless conflict.

I enjoyed my day yesterday watching the MLK events, napping, and reading the new Inspector Gamache book, How The Light Gets In. Today will be busier with Dr. visits, errands, and sorting and storing all the boat furnishings so I hope I’m sufficiently rested!

My creaky knees and all the stairs in this old house means projects are slower for me now.

Crazy hit me as I walked in the already open door of the office 15 minutes before the office officially opens.  I have just reached a breathing spot and dashed over here to check in.  Not sure we’re hitting 3-digit highs, but it’s humid enough to feel like it.  I’ve had to curtail my afternoon/evening walking because it’s not cooling down until after midnight.  Hold the good thought for my brother.  The rain they’ve been getting for the last 2 months (in the Tallahassee, FL area) is killing his sheep.  He just got his place this year and the flock was doing really well 3 months ago but he’s only had 1 day in the last 3 weeks when he didn’t find dead bodies when he went out to feed and move them in the morning.  What was going to be his operating capital for the rest of the year has become bodies to be disposed of and he needs all the good energy he can get.  Thanks, bf
