Tuesday Morning Herd Check-in: Greetings of the Moosekin

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Let the greetings begin!

last night, and we are taking Son 3 back to college for his final semester later today. Son 2 made it back to LA, and Son 1 made it back to Zurich. I will try to do a photo diary in a few days’ time. My first class is on September 3.

nasty weather all day – just in time for my first day back to classes.

Sigh – the aroma of damp young adults in classrooms with no windows ain’t my favorite perfume

We were supposed to get rain this morning but did not.  Oh, well.

Thanks for the tip about Firefox, Jan!  I have wondered why Shockwave keeps crashing.  As I hate to do anything with my computer for fear of making it worse, I just put up with it when Shockwave crashes.  I’ve printed out your advice.  Perhaps if I do it, everything will be OK!

Still using Windows 7 on this desktop.  Hate Windows 8, which is on my laptop.  A technically gifted man, the son of one of my Circle sisters, has cleaned up my laptop so I can use it, but she’s out of town, so I can’t retrieve it until she returns.

Dog-walking lesson this morning, then a bunch more chores.  I got a lot done yesterday, but didn’t make it to the gym. Hope the rest of the week will be better!

day in mid-Missouri.  Spent some time yesterday joining with others poking fun at the wonderfulness of Donald Trump.  He was making the rounds of the morning shows calling NY’s AG a hack who met with the White House to conspire against him.  He is an embarrassment to buffoons everywhere.  Anyway, last night Chris Hayes was in the midst of introducing a segment about the lawsuit against Trump.  Must have scared the stuffing out of my internet connection because it (and the TV which relys on it) went down.  This was at 7:30 pm yesterday and it is still down.  So I am sitting in a freezing cold breakfast joint using their wi-fi so I could see what is happening in the world.  Should be connected at home by late afternoon.

Eating breakfast, drinking tea. On hold with “inheritor services” about Mom’s accounts. I might be able to get the money into my checking account by the first.

We have a 40% chance of rain today!

So that’s all the thoughts in my head at this hour. I’ve printed out the forms but I don’t dare start to fill them out, I know I’d do it wrong.

Earworm: Hands Open by my favorite cute Scottish boys (I suppose if they’re over 30, I shouldn’t call them “boys”, but they just seem so young to me). But this makes me laugh:

    It’s hard to argue when

    You won’t stop making sense

    My tongue still misbehaves

And keeps digging my own grave

    know what to check in with/about – woke with skullbanger which has not totally left but the space it did leave is filled with fuzz.  Devoutly hope the emergencies I’ve dealt with this morning were dealt with correctly.  Hoping moar coffee will help (actually haven’t had ANY yet – emergencies met me as I walked in the door – so hoping SOME coffee will help).  {{{HUGS}}}

I just woke up and found some coffee. I’ll eventually do something productive but the choices are feeling overwhelming so I’m going to ease into the day.

Nurse L and I smiled and laughed as she ushered me to an office with a dark wood desk and small conference table, not an examining room. Brilliant! I felt relaxed and respected. Pleasant conversation, “Did you have fun yesterday?” I didn’t even feel the stick.

Dr.’s office and Nurse L handled the situation beautifully.
