Tuesday Morning Herd Check-in: Greetings of the Moosekin

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Let the greetings begin!

got very little sleep last night – finally falling out in a rage about certain comments made elsewhere, so I’m cranky, and still angry…though trying to “turn it over and let it go”.

Facing a trip to the dentist today…which isn’t helping my mood either.

Now that I’ve dumped that I’m off to the kitchen to get more coffee.

It’s one of those bleh days and I wanna get outta here!!!

But some pootie broke the plane…

Sigh… Still sticky, like a million per cent humidity.  However temps are coming down! I wanna be able to turn off the ACs for a change!

today, it’s awfully muggy this morning. It looks like everyone will be having an early nap today.

  4. It’s cooler this morning and should be quite pleasant today, high in the upper 70s, strong breeze from the north. I’ll be home working on a quilt this morning, and meeting my buddy Beth for lunch and library time this afternoon.

If you’re interested in the rest of our trip, including more of Jim’s wonderful pictures, here is the last segment on Banff National Park in Canada.

The doors and windows are open. I can hear a wren, a cardinal, robins, and chickadees. Nice morning music.

I’m awake now, but it’s still dark outside so more sleep may be a possibility. I hope so, as I have a busy day waiting.

  6. Does it make you feel big and important? Or, little and insignificant?

Today, I am going to visit two of my high school buddies for lunch. We are friends on Fbook. But, this will be better to see them face to face. I will also see a few of my siblings during the same trip. They are only about 2 hrs away.

Had a decent night’s sleep until I was forced to wake up at 4:30 this morning.  I’m going to have a nap today for sure!

Birthday cards to buy, a birthday package to get off in the mail, must cope with the news that my daughter in Austin, whom I had the delight of seeing a week or so ago, is taking a break from Facebook. Admire her self-discipline–I admit Facebook is a “time sink,” but it’s the only way I know what’s going on in her life during her busy spells. Her work is pretty consuming, as is her parenthood, so for three weeks at a time I don’t get e-mails from her. But when she posts on Facebook at least I know what she’s up to!

Oh, well, this will be a good chance for me to step back from constant Internetting and get on with some of my backlog of chores.  ðŸ™‚

Hope everyone has a good day today!

I’ve got to go in early for an appointment before Mass.  At this stage, I worry that I might well yawn my way through it, which could easily convey the wrong message.

My skin is a mess.  To get rid of the felled trees in my yard, I arranged with a private party to do the work in exchange for the wood.  They left a thick layer of sawdust all over the yard and graveled driveway.  So, I have to walk through it to get into the house, and it’s getting tracked in and onto everything.  Within hours, welts were appearing on my face and arms.  I’m keeping it under control to some extent with soaks, and hydrocortisone cream, but that’s not a solution, and we’re weeks away from heavy rains.

I may be checking back into a motel for awhile.  I’m going to try to tough it out one more night before taking on that hit to my budget.

How long till Halloween & our 1st cold front?

Eating beans & drinking tea. Don’t I live an exciting life?

    Oh, my shirt:

it looks pinkish here, but it is a lovely orange, maybe 2 shades darker than baby asprin. Definitely going to my workout group this evening to show it iff.

We are definitely having a meeting at work today. Damn. I hate meetings. And they are always on days when my team has lots of applications.

playing some cute Scottish boys in my head to make up for it

vanished, radar clear as new glass all day yesterday.  Blasted awake at 2 am as the non-existent storm passed over my roof.  Landlord is a happy man.  He brought over a prospective tenant yesterday, she instantly fell in love with the place and will move in as soon as I vacate in September.

Foggy again. Last night it actually morphed into light rain. We never have rain in the summertime.

I’m up early again but it’s not as bad as yesterday. I don’t like 5:30am but I can live with it now and then.

Have a Pleasant Valley, er, Tuesday! 🙂

Hope all are well, the summer pattern has set in here in north Texas so now the only thing left to do is watch the gulf.

Weren’t you east coast folks supposed to be devoured by a plague of locusts this summer or something? Whatever happened to that?

    Temp Here Near DC 72°

    Humidity 100%

Funny, it isn’t raining. I think somebody needs to adjust NOAA’s local gadgets.

Beautiful day on tap here.  We are just going to play in the yard and go to the park.  I only got half the laundry done yesterday so ill try to finish that up today.  Kids are eating breakfast and the mr is on a morning run before working late tonight which means I don’t have to make a big fancy dinner, just get something healthy in the kids tummies.

    Have a great day!

  15. slksfca

I only managed to sleep about two hours, despite having gotten only three hours sleep the night before, and I spent the rest of my time yesterday all sluggish and listless, trying to get more sleep but failing.

Anyway, it was pretty miserable outside so a good day to remain indoors. Though I do have things I must do out in the world, things which I doubt will get done today….

and lightening for the last several days but no measurable rain.  Sigh.  On file clerk/receptionist detail until I finally get the approvals necessary to enter the GAs.  The Powers That Be set up a step by step process with multiple approvals in between each step and then cast aspersions on our abilities to get jobs done in a timely manner.  Hope everybody is doing well.  Has anybody heard from Kelley lately?  I haven’t seen her in the checkins (admittedly I’ve only been able to visit once – and not log in – from a coffee shop over the weekend).  How’s her hand?  Anyway {{{HUGS}}} to teh mooses.  bf

I awoke unrested, and therefore I see a nap in my future today. We had rain, some thunder last night, but it didn’t wake me. Rich told me about it.

Working on second cup of coffee, hoping for some energy.

…it looks like a lot of us missed out on getting sufficient sleep. Makes me wonder if it’s the phase of the moon or something! 😉

  19. There’s a lot of construction going on over there, street development and so on. But last night before we fell asleep, we heard coyotes nearby, likely back on the path and close to it.

It’s a shorter route than we usually walk but we walked fast, mostly just wanting to stretch things out before Jim got in the car to go to Illinois. He’s gone now.

Last evening Son and FFDIL called on skype (or something) and visited some. I guess the main reason for the call was so FFDIL could ask me about what to do with her Mississippi retirement plan money, a 401a, I guess. So we talked through her options and what would make the most sense.

It felt good that they asked me for advice on that, and it felt good to talk about something I know well again.

150mg tramadol is doing the trick. I’ve straightened up the craft area and I don’t feel muzzy. We’ll see later this week if it works while I’m doing errands too.
