Tuesday Morning Herd Check-in: Greetings of the Moosekin

Make sure you let your peeps know where to find you!

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least content.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

You can follow the daily moosetrails here: Motley Moose Recent Comments.

Remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder:

Let the greetings begin!

  2. Rain all week. Which is okay since I plan on spending most of it in bed. Came down with the head cold from hell and went through three boxes of kleenex last night alone. Will take my niece to work and stop by store on the way home to stock up on cold medicine and kleenex then back to bed.

This picture Waterfall I consider the companion piece to yesterday’s picture.

It’s going to be like this all day.  Wonderful writing weather, and for making chicken pot pie for dinner.  Wonder if it’s safe to plant basil now–I’m going to give it a go, I think.

Have errands and laundry this morning.  Possibly I can write this afternoon.  Coming up:  two book reviews, one short story, my journal.  Haven’t written in my journal for a month!  That’s what happens when life is so busy, but I do need to write down my memories of The Wedding and The Visit (relatives from England and Australia).

So it looks like a quiet day ahead, and I’m happy.  Going to try a recipe called Beltane Marigold Custard tonight.

    Everyone have a good day!

Up early again but I’m okay with it this morning. I can nap later.

Temperature right now at 4:50 AM is 57°F. Predicted high: 65°F downtown, 62°F on my side of town, under mostly cloudy skies.

Jan, the ugly dog/ugly moose pic is one of my favorites. 🙂

Reminded me JanF, I need to clean the aquariums this morning. It’s cold again. 60! I’m enjoying it though. Painting tonight, finishing a boat picture from my Curacao trip. Need some new inspirations. Hope everyone’s week is going well?

So, last night, I’m watching Revolution & following along on Twitter. I started watching because, well this is totally my kind of show — post apocalypse, with good looking, anti-hero hero guys. Tim Guinee is in it, but only in flashbacks unfortunately — I found out about the show early on because I follow him on Twitter. Anyway, this happened:

Do you enjoy the more action packed episodes like tonight or the heart tuggers like last week? #Revolution

@15DarkYears whatever gives me more @TimGuinee  & Billy Burke (just being honest, I’m in it for the cute guys)

“@beckythecyclist: @15DarkYears whatever gives me more @TimGuinee  & Billy Burke, I’m in it for the cute guys)” u exude great taste

I was disappointed that Tim’s character isn’t in it much, and he can’t be. But my eyes are getting used to Billy Burke. There is certainly worse to look at after a long Monday at work.

It’ll be another nice day here – 80s, no clouds. I brought dinner so I can leave from work to get to my tri group this evening instead of going north then south.

Bad night of sleeping, with leg and foot cramps several times. Nothing helps except standing and stretching for several minutes, and who wants to do that at 1:30? Meh. I finally gave up at 5:15 and got up. Thank God for coffee!

we had another cold front this past weekend. I’m thinking for real this time it’s the last we’ll have until next year.

    Guess who’s fundraising again? :-X

Seems it never rains in southern CA?  Meh. two rainy days in a row.  weird.  Graduation is this weekend.  Coupla years ago our registrar told me that in over 30 yrs of graduation planning, she’d never made a rain contingency plan.  so far, so good, but this year it may be close…

although it “should” be short-sleeve shirt weather by this time of year.  At least in the “new normal” – the old timers remember this kind of weather in May very well (even though the news people don’t – “new record” snow in May – well, new since the 1950s anyway) as their advice to new gardeners in the area even in the 1980s was “don’t put your tomatoes in the ground until June 1st”.  Anyway, still trying to get summer pay entered – have almost all of the “who” part which gives me the “how much” but the when and from what cost center are still hanging in the hedge.  Finance Committee tonight.  Sigh.  That’s the most contentious of the standing committees (and only comes in 2nd to the Budget special committee).  At least the grievance thing was settled last week.  I’ll try to get back here during the day – at least once before I leave.  Won’t be here tomorrow (taking the day off to take kittehs to the vet – one at a time since I only have one carrier, so three trips to the vet who fortunately is only 1-1/2 miles from my house).  {{{HUGS}}} to the meeses.

70 degrees with a high of 72. Another beautiful day in Michigan. Have a great day everyone!

we have lovely blue sunny skies which is my favorite thing to wake up to. We have a busy day ahead but at least we’ll have nice weather for all the errands. Grace needs her second round of puppy shots and the old dog is due for her heartworm shot. Since taking them together doesn’t seem like a very good idea I’m glad the vet isn’t too far. We get to go by the plumber’s shop who has taken his pile of old toilets (the one every plumber seems to have) and painted them for a nice display in front of his shop. Seriously folks, Marfa thinks they have a lock on art but they are sadly wrong.

It’s another sunny day in the PNW…..I’m beginning to wonder when it will rain!

For some reason I have been sleeping more and better. I don’t know why but I’m enjoying feeling more rested.

I just got the name and address of the new family practitioner/geriatrician I found out about. Here’s where she is.

See where it says Walker House Rd with a double parking lot below it? I live at the end of that parking lot. “A” is one block away. Takes three minutes to walk it.

We’ve had really strange weather. Very hot last week. Yesterday it rained and the temps dropped 20 degrees. The sun is fighting with the clouds today.

    enjoy; something different

After waking up far too early, I got pretty much caught up on sleep today. Woke up an hour or two ago not feeling up to taking a walk, so I’ve let myself just relax.

Instead, I went to the PBS website and watched the episode of Mr. Selfridge that I missed a couple of weeks ago. It took me awhile to warm up to the series (and to Jeremy Piven himself) but by now I’m seriously hooked on both. Watching today I found myself thinking (though not for the first time) about how valuable fictional, dramatic representations can be to a fuller understanding of history — so long as it doesn’t pretend to be truth in absolute. Some aspects of truth transcend mere facts. 🙂

So tonight it’s my typical evening of television, Kindle, and then to bed, hopefully to sleep most of the night!
