Thursday Morning Herd Check-in: Greetings of the Moosekin

Make sure you let your peeps know where to find you!

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least content.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Happy Thursday! 45 today heading for a high of 63.

I am wearing part deux of my consignment store finds today, the denim jacket, on the theory that I only have a couple more days where I can get away with it.

The good news is that the water heater leak was not the water heater but a hose so fixed very inexpensively. The bad news is that our water heater lives in a cubbyhole at the back of our closet, the closet is carpeted and the very slowly drying carpet now stinketh. May tear it up and put something a bit more practical in there.

34 degrees with clear skies showing off the beautiful moon. The normal average for this time of year is 60. We will be hitting 48.

It is bright and sunny here and central NJ, and the temperature is 46 degrees. Hello, spring!

  5. Sneezing and coughing my head off with this pollen. Oh well it looks like the last of the trees have finally bloomed so hopefully in a couple weeks I can wash the yellow fuzz off of my car.

The geek in me was excited to find out that I can now do elf ears. I know what can I say I get excited by the silliest things. 😉

  6. Sun is shining and it will get to about 55 today.

Food pantry duty this morning. Yesterday the director called me and said she and the assistant will be gone today when I get there, so she told me how to let myself into the building. I’ve volunteered there now for a total of 6 hours. That seemed like a high degree of trust to have for me after only 6 hours.

Writing class this evening. In between, a couple of errands and a nap.

My giraffes aren’t as funny as those above. We saw these at the Providence, RI zoo when we were there last June.

I slept for the first time in weeks last night.  Feel much better this morning.  My husband is going to take the kids to ballet today so I will be alone in the new house for the first time.  We are happy.

Tonight I am going to see Book of Mormon with my husband and parents for my birthday and tomorrow we will rip out the carpet in the living room.

Warming up tomorrow and sunny sunny sunny.  Looking forward to it.

forty six here, promising to go up to sixty two. Hope it’s going to be a good day for all. Now, coffee and the newspaper. I still read a newspaper, print edition, not sure if I am the only person in the country who does.

at least i didn’t get too far from the house and was not on the Thruway.

Now I’m home waiting for AAA

I am one of those people who has no clue how to change a tire 🙂

yesterday was ridiculous. 40s in the morning, and no warmer than mid-60s. Today at least I didn’t have to wear a jacket or socks. And Saturday (the most important morning) the lows will be in the 60s, so I’ll wear long tights, but I won’t need 2 pair or wool socks or anything crazy like that

Today I woke up before the alarm again, dammit. Eating breakfast, drinking tea.

Didn’t really do anything besides work yesterday, and I have the stupid annual homeowner’s association meeting tonight. But at least I took tomorrow off, so I can get all ready for the Ride.

I keep checking the Alamo Drafthouse site & our IMAX theatre for Star Trek tickets. Can’t believe I can’t buy them yet.

    Happy Friday Eve!

and barely cool, in the low 50s. We’ll be warming up slowly staying in the 70s today and not reaching the 80s until later this weekend. The pup is growing every day, she’s just about overcome the excessive biting and finding the puppy pads regularly. We took her out to visit our (very patient) friends again yesterday, they have a young dog who could never get our old dog to play so she’s really happy we’re bringing a puppy now. We all watched and laughed at all that doggy energy while our old dog caught herself a good nap since Grace was too busy to be biting her old butt. Although Grace did have to show her new friend how she could sneak in and get herself a quick nip, they both ran away quick when our old dog got mad.

Low 50s right now and only rising to 56°F today. No rain, though.

I’m up early to make sure I get a shower and some coffee before they shut off my gas at 7:30. Then this afternoon I head off to the orthopedic clinic for a follow-up thing and to get more x-rays, just to confirm that I’m healing properly. I don’t expect there to be any problem.

Also, the doctor may let me dump the cane today! 🙂

I took this on a previous spring afternoon a couple of years ago. It’s a street located just off of Haight Street on the way from the bus stop to the hospital complex where I get medical care.

my windshield this morning.  As in enough I had to scrape it.  Sigh.  Just have a moment – already have had “discussion” with Chair about me overstepping my role because I reminded him he has money in one of his cost centers (keeping track of which is one of my duties) – still working through how to pay who from what (and how much) for the summer – hoping I don’t have any more issues I have to bring to him.  Sigh.  {{{HUGS}}} Take care, bf

Over on the Orange, they’re talking about which issues the staff takes action on, and it all boils down to tips and recs, FB and Twitter shares, among other things. Some people are having a rude awakening that their pet issues, i.e. Dronez! are not as popular with the community at large, and outside as they seem to think.

…I’m reduced to heating a mug of water in the microwave, then making instant coffee. I could heat an entire pot worth of water to boiling and then using my usual drip method, but I hate actually boiling water in the microwave. I’m always afraid it will explode on me.
