Open Thread: Starring Rand Paul

Rand Paul wins the “WTF?” award for the week with his vile take on Universal Health Care. Speaking at a Senate  Health, Education, and Labor Committee hearing on May 11th, Senator Paul the Lesser artfully disgustingly compared the right to health care to slavery.

Yup.

Slavery.

Follow me below the fold to see what this clown had to say.

(I hope everyone is seated…it truly is astounding)

In a breathtaking display of stupidity (I’m being kind here and attributing it to stupidity not to straight up racism…probably too kind), Senator Paul the Lesser explains how supporting health care for all is JUST LIKE supporting slavery.

He weaves a tale (staring himself) of a poor doctor dragged from his home and FORCED to care for others. How not only is the doctor in question enslaved, so are those in his employ—right down to the janitor.

Such mind-numbing ignorance is painful to behold wherever one may find it. It is, however, excruciating to witness it on display on the Senate floor.

Let us look at some of his words again….

With regard to the idea of whether you have a right to health care, you have realize what that implies. It’s not an abstraction. I’m a physician. That means you have a right to come to my house and conscript me. It means you believe in slavery. It means that you’re going to enslave not only me, but the janitor at my hospital, the person who cleans my office, the assistants who work in my office, the nurses.

Basically, once you imply a belief in a right to someone’s services – do you have a right to plumbing? Do you have a right to water? Do you have right to food? – you’re basically saying you believe in slavery.

I’m a physician in your community and you say you have a right to health care. You have a right to beat down my door with the police, escort me away and force me to take care of you? That’s ultimately what the right to free health care would be.

– Rand Paul, May 11th, 2011

Yes, he is saying that Universal Health Care will lead to our physicians being dragged from their homes…forced into servitude against their will…they will be JUST LIKE SLAVES.

I’d better warn my father, a physician, how dangerous his support of Universal Health Care can be to his FREEDOM.

Oy.

Ok, forget the kindness of benefit of the doubt…Rand Paul is a racist scumbag. We already know that he would not have signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. We already know that he firmly supports the right of a business owner to hang ‘WHITES ONLY’ signs in their windows. We already know his take on State’s Rights is horribly skewed and racist right on its face.

There is no room for doubt here…the man is racist.

I do wish I could ask him one question on this particular subject though…

“Senator Paul the Lesser? What are your beliefs pertaining to the Right to Counsel? What do you think we need to do for all the poor Lawyers we have enslaved since our Nation was founded? Do you believe we should amend the Bill of Rights?”

Now that I think about it…he probably DOES want to amend the Bill of Rights.

Racist bastard.

Consider this a Universal Open Thread…

    readily admits he would not have voted for the Civil rights act. Why? Well the free market would have taken care of integration and Jim Crow laws. I kid you not.

    Besides, Paul says that the Jim Crow laws would have ended without the Civil Rights Act anyway, a view held by many libertarians who believe the free markets solve social problems.

  2. The man is a disciple of Ayn Rand. For Pete’s sake, he’s named after her. This is straight up Objectivism. Haven’t you guys read any of her books?

    but am getting so angry had to stop and step away from the keyboard.

    What really makes me pissed off are the number of “progressives” who think these two morans are just peachy keen – having bought the hook of “end the war on drugs” etc.

    Just watched Spitzer chew up Papa unbearable Ron on CNN on the issue of taxes.

    The slavery thing has me in seeing red mode.

    Time for some coffee – thanks for this Ky.

    “left libertarians” (to me an oxymoron but that’s another topic) like these two men because they are anti war, pro decriminalization of drugs.   What those that like them on the left forget is that these men want NO GOVERNMENT regulation of anything.  This is the very concept, that imo, leads to oligarchy.  The powerful get to overreach, steal, kill and destroy by virtue of the “survival of the fittest(physically).

    Like John I am not sure these two are racist or even sexist…not overtly anyway.  I believe that THEY, because of their egocentricity, BELIEVE that nature works it out.

    I have always believed that more (smart) women lean left because we get it.  No matter how much we can perhaps prove we are intellectually superior to some males who would do us harm, the fact is that as a general rule, men ruled for centuries because of brute strength.  White males with money in the days of real slavery were able to rape women of color whenever they chose to do so.  “Against Our Will” documents how in history rape was a tool of war, a tool to force other men to comply less their women and children suffer.

    RULE OF LAW is a way to keep the weaker of society safe, and in more modern times rules and regulations set by government aimed to level the playing field for minorities and women because for two hundred years of this government, for much of world’s history, women and certain groups were denied by virtue of wealth and power in the hands of certain groups.

    The PAUL family does not consider that their white skin, nor their gender has been an advantage. Most of the right refuse to acknowledge that there have been thousands of years of affirmative action for all males, 200 plus years of affirmative actions for white males in the USA.  In the bubble of their egocentric world, both men believe without government, businesses would just be fair or fail.  It’s laughable that anyone who has studied human nature or history would believe this.  It is hysterical, in light of what Wall Street has done, to believe that if they were not honest or fair they were fail.  Apparently, neither gets what TOO BIG TOO FAIL means for the oligarchs.

    Stunning that anyone in 2011, outside of religious zealots or those who have not had the opportunity to be educated  would believe this.

  5. Forcing me to stop what I am doing so you can have more “Safety” is Slavery.

    Water Treatment is Slavery.

    Forcing me to pay to clean the sewage that comes out of my house so that you can have some Health is Slavery.

    Providing for the Common Defense is Slavery.

    Forcing me to pay to support your Defense is Slavery.

    Promoting the General Welfare is Slavery.

    Forcing me to pay so that you can have Life is Slavery.

    Ensuring the Blessing of Liberty is Slavery.

    Forcing me to pay so that you can have Freedom is Slavery.

    Safety  = Slavery

    Health  = Slavery

    Defense = Slavery

    Welfare = Slavery

    Freedom = Slavery

    George Orwell would be proud.

    But Ensign began texting Hampton again the next month, and the affair picked up. The senator gave her $3,000 in cash for hotel rooms and items for herself, and told her more than once that he wanted to marry her — once at the National Prayer Breakfast.

    Seriously, he proposes to his mistress at the National Prayer Breakfast?!  I guess now we know why we have them.

    Most of my ‘Fierce’ ratings are registering as ‘Fail’ ratings….no matter how many times I correct them.

    Da Fuhhh?

    Gonna try from my wife’s laptop…but, if they continue to stick…consider this comment a blanket apology.

    So odd.

    I have just read a few diaries over at Kos,

    and

    and I’m getting the feeling that the now-banned user Aidos is another incarnation of linfar a/k/a rainbowgirl.

    http://www.dailykos.com/user/A

    The writing style reminds me of linfar, and the accusation of cyberstalking is also familiar… linfar accused me, here, of cyberstalking her…. back in her infamous “HuffPo Sherroded Me” diary.

    Does anyone else think that there may have been yet another exercise of sock-puppetry going on?

    Just to see where the chips fall on his candidacy.  May end up eating some crow within the half-hour.

    UPDATE: Mike Huckabee is set to announce that he’ll be announcing an announcement at his upcoming announcement announcement.

    It is too bad that more people did not see the above before the 2010 Election, and vote accordingly.
