Tuesday Morning Herd Check-in

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, … or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Yay, we’re delayed again! I’m eating breakfast & watching Dr. Who. The breathe-right thing helped, my “sleep efficiency” was over 50% for once.

Anyway, I don’t have to be at work till 10, I feel pretty rested (sad that 5 1/2 hours of sleep gets a “woohoo” but there you are).

I need to walk this evening, but it’s really cold — to me. But I’ll pack several layers & make a stab at it. I’m not supposed to work out after today, that’s why today is important.

heading to 60 by Saturday!  QC Personnel Committee ran long last night as the TP types kept arguing with facts – we have a consultant to tell us how we are doing (salaries mostly, but some information on benefits) relative to other employers, both public and private and no matter what he tells us, the TPers either quote “national so it’s unbiased” Libertarian crap about how public employees are paid more and have better benefits than anybody else (which only works if you compare federal employees in large cities with Wal-Mart greeters and McDonald’s burger flippers) or just plain out “I don’t get paid that much so why should the county employees” garbage.  Once we got over that time-wasting garbage things went fairly quickly, but a meeting that could have taken half an hour took an hour and a half.  Sigh.  I’ve got Finance tonight, which will probably also run long as the one bit of business we actually had to do last night (approve a new position with custodial – we’ve added 3 multi-story buildings to the County’s holding since I took office and this is the 1st request for more custodial staff to take care of them) shows up tonight for approval to fund it.  Anyway, I’ve got my day job to do so I’d best get to it.  {{{HUGS}}} and rapid healing to all in Mooseland.

Northern Virginia. “They” say that tomorrow evening the dreaded white flakes will begin to fall. Tomorrow everyone else will panic, so I’m going to get my shopping done today.

Bfitz in Arkansas, sounds as if you’ve got your work cut out for you in your dealings with the TPers. Good luck–isn’t that Libertarian crap loathsome!

Poor Dearly Beloved is reclining, pale and chastened, on the sofa. He feels worse than I do from the colds we both have. When I’m around Granddaughter I wear a hospital mask in the hope she won’t catch what I’ve got.

Slept well until 4 a.m. but after that it was hopeless, so got up at 5:30 and made a cup of tea.

Hope everyone who’s not well will feel better and that all will have a good day!

A sleepy late morning for me, and a day with no Dr. appointments, yay! I have an overdue appointment for a hair cut/color this afternoon and my neglected desk to tend to today…..a nice normal day 🙂
