Thursday Morning Herd Check-in

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, … or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Toe woke me up at 3:52. Sigh. I took the outgrow stuff off — it has a pad & bandaid-like thing to keep it where it’s supposed to be. Anyway, I soaked it for a while, ate a little cheese & cracker so I could take some advil…. I may have gone back to sleep for 45 minutes or so. Because there’s a bright red band around the toe, he put me on antibiotics, which have weird rules about eating that I never knew about. I can’t take my calcuim for the whole time I’m on them, have to take the pill 2 hours after/1 hour before eating…… yeesh.

So, 2 hours after the advil (which hasn’t really domonished the pain much), I took the antibiotic, now it’s finally an hour after that so I can eat breakfast so I can have my tea – which has a 5-hour energy mixed in with it.

And today is the day of my kidney ultrasound so between 2 & 2:30 I have to down basically a whole bottle of water & hope my bladder doesn’t burst before my 3pm appointment.

Blasting U2’s Love & Peace Or Else in my head really loud to try to keep myself awake.

Sounds as if you have a lot of things going on. Wow!  Hope the ultrasound goes well.

Austin generally has pleasant weather this time of year, right?  So you don’t have to bundle up too much to go out.

    Have a good day!

Dearly Beloved has just put Miss Baby in the truck to take her to day care.  She’s staying with us for three days while her room at home is undergoing renovations–painting and a new hardwood floor. Her parents don’t want her to be around dust and chemical smells.

She’s pretty well-behaved, so having her here is a joy rather than a chore. Anyone who has experience with small children knows that they frequently utter hilarious remarks that make the grownups chuckle, so we’re usually smiling–even while we sleep.

Elder son is coming over today without Count Chocula (the Labrador), so that’s good news. Got to finish wrapping and tidying today. First thing on the agenda is shopping at Trader Joe’s, then scuttling home.

Also…sigh…have to winkle out some more Christmas cards from somewhere. There are people I forgot about. This happens every year.

Hope everyone will stay warm and have a good day!

We are having family Christmas Saturday to accommodate plans of children and grandchildren.  This year, our “circus” will have at least 15 adults, a half-dozen kiddies of various ages and one extremely exuberant dog.  Snacks only as it is really too much to cook for and feed so many at once.

Our grand girl was not impressed with the very visible no presents under the tree yesterday, so I guess I’d best wrap some today. That’s my least favorite part of the seasonal fun.

Drew got out of surgery yesterday at 4:45 and was home by 7:30 – and by 9 he was coherent enough to call me.  The surgery was a rousing success – he said the pain from the operation compared to the pain from the condition was so slight that he felt “great” and was reveling in being able to actually sit down in a chair for the first time in over 6 weeks.  Of course now he’s not in pain he’s had time to think about things and is getting really P.O.’d at his doctor (I was already P.O.’d at his doctor).  He sends his thanks for the healing energy you folks sent – and I do too, of course.  Blessings upon y’all’s heads. 🙂
