Tuesday Morning Herd Check-in

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, … or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

going up to 45- and thankful that we aren’t getting nasty weather today since I have to go to school.

Won’t be cross-posting the front porch to purple today since it’s a commentary on orange issues surrounding the “portraying blacks as simians” debates.

I’m working on a diary about the Children’s Shelter. Since the other stuff I had thought of doing never really worked, I’m just gonna do it the same way I do for the Walk & Ride.

Still crazy warm here – high today will be 85. Highs over the weekend will be in the 30s. No that’s not a typo.

Eating breakfast – pita with sweet potato/chickpea spread & drinking tea. From my TARDIS water bottle.

I’m off to the Maryland State Archives today. You know, that trip that was postponed from last Tuesday when there was supposed to be a storm. Well, the storm didn’t hit much Here Near DC but I was too tired to go anyway and client didn’t find out.

Full o’ beans today, all set to find them 19th century documents!

Lordy … I think I need to rev up my life a little.

The north wind is blowing and we had a dusting of snow yesterday….wintery weather!

I just read an older (Nov 10th) article in TNR, Hillary’s Nightmare? A Democratic Party That Realizes Its Soul Lies With Elizabeth Warren It’s a long but interesting analysis.

Another doctor day for me with blood tests and I hope some help with the lingering Celebrix caused side effect of a puzzling eczema/fungal infection on my skin. I’ve developed an intolerance to the medications I have been using to control it so I’m both worried and annoyed and I can’t go back to the pool until whatever the hell it is is fixed….grrrrrr!

It looked like rain most of yesterday except for a few hours in the afternoon. Looks like it again this morning, but no rain is due until Thursday night.

Busy morning getting the pink-cheeked precious off to school. The traffic on the parkway has to be seen to be believed. Meeting my niece and great-nephew for coffee at niece’s house in a little while. It’s so much fun to have relatives just 5 and 10 minutes away!  Makes me feel connected.

Might get a free evening Sunday as the men of the family have decided to play billiards or something–woo-hoo!  No dinner to cook (I’ll make soup the day before and just reheat it), so I will have time to myself. Good!

Hope everyone will have a good day!
