Ugh. I woke up with a killer headache. I took Advil and went back to sleep, and it appears to be gone now, except the occasional flash of pain.

    I have answers.

I have lots of favorite words, but I also have a memory like a sieve, and none of them come to mind right now.

I always get lost in dictionaries, though it’s worse with encyclopedias. Even on Wikipedia I can get lost clicking on links within articles. Preparing these diaries is a major exercise in getting sidetracked.

Places that no longer exist… so many. How about all of them? I’d really like to see things like the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. All of the Middle Eastern cities pre-modern day warfare. 19th century Paris, which I have fallen in love with through all these painters…

Best boss? I had a couple. They really work with you, never take credit for what you did, give praise when its due, don’t expect you to know how to do something without explaining first, have a sense of humor… I had one miserable boss who was a liar and a cheat, who was a psychological abuser. It’s a longish story, but it ended well. I went to the Big Boss and got him deposed. Last I heard he was in jail in Orange County for tax evasion. Did I mention he was a Republican?

I don’t think I have any favorite words, but I do love words in general.

    I get sidetracked

I’ve been lucky to have a number of excellent bosses. Sam was one of the smartest people I’ve met and loved to be challenged about things. Roy was another of the smartest people I’ve met and was great at explaining things. And now, I work for me!

Worst? Well…. my very first real boss was a dim bulb who didn’t know she was a dim bulb.

That’s what I wrote after a minute of staring at the keyboard.

    Onward.

Still not thinking.  I’ll have to get back to you on the word.  I thought of one with an amusing sound, but it’s rude.  And it’s really two words.

I do get sidetracked.  It’s good to use a paper dictionary for that very reason.  If you Google, you just get a single word, with no place to go.

Hanging gardens of Babylon?  I’m still too dull this morning to think of much!

Best boss was a guy named Buzz (really!) Dombrowski.  Humorous, kind, helpful.  Cared about the people who worked for him.  Worst boss was his successor, Tom Butschky (Yes!  I am naming names!).  He was crude and abusive, and yet only one person, as far as I know, ever lodged a complaint.  A secretary.  Good for her!

First they came for abortion. Then they came for birth control. Then they came for condoms. Then they came for oral. Now nobody comes!

If they come for masturbation, they’ll have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands!

Thank you, Charlton Heston, for a punchline that’s so flexible!

The GOP just lost Jennifer Rubin. I have to go now, because its hard to keep typing while pigs fly out of my ass.

    Seriously?  What’d she say??

    1938 – Nico, German singer-songwriter, model, and actress (d. 1988)

Wow, never heard that before!  I knew Jackson Browne accompanied Nico way back when, but I didn’t know she’d recorded any of his songs.
