Tuesday Morning Herd Check-in

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

61 here in the Catskills. Hope the sun will dry up all the wet we got yesterday.

Got up wondering if there are enough “reasonable Republicans” (is there such a group?) to join Democrats in ending this mess? According to reports only 17R votes would be needed if Boner lets a vote happen.

but i wonder if the day’s high was at midnight and the day will only get cooler.

need to clean off my sidewalks and driveway, the landscapers left a mess.  we are tracking stuff into the house too much.  :-(((

made it through the monday, the tuesday is every bit as challenging.  wednesday slightly less so.  thursday equal to wednesday.  big news for son yesterday, still digesting.

    59 heading for 67 here.

The predicted tornado and torrential rains did not appear here yesterday so maybe that’s a good omen for the coming debt limit crisis and ongoing shutdown and sequester ones. I am trying to be optimistic.

Am going to my sports medicine doc to see what can be done about my knee. Am trying to be optimistic.

Eating breakfast & watching the news. They say this is the last morning with 50s then back to warmer overnight lows.

A/c guy is coming this morning to do one more thing. And I have to take the car in for its 1st servicing. And my best friend lost her job yesterday. So my day has suddenly filled. Still way more restful than taking calls.

52 degrees here. Leaving shortly for my podiatrist appt. Been having pain on top of my foot near the toes plus there’s a squishy bump. X-rays only showed a heel spur. Been limping for weeks now. Didn’t expect to fall apart until I was at least 90.

    Hope everyone is doing well.

Today is my late sister’s birthday. I’m getting to the bottom of the barrel of pix of her. The ones I posted today are one blurry and one with cracks through her face. She still shows up lovely though.

high of 68 F. today.  Good.  And although today is going to be a fair day, it’s going to rain off and on the rest of the week. BETTER!

It rained so heavily yesterday I never did make it to the gym.  Mid-afternoon, when the rain appeared to have stopped, I went to Trader Joe’s to get a few things and discovered it is Pumpkin Month at that establishment. EVERYTHING is pumpkin-flavored!  Might actually get some of it next payday.

Not much new, except that I wish Younger Son could get a better job. He’s looking, but these things take forever.

    Everyone have a good day!

The changing fall light is encouraging me to just stay sleepy so my good morning wishes to all are late today.

(lows low 40s highs low 70s) and CAVU.  QC last night was irritating but not as bad as it could be.  I managed to keep my mouth shut and stay out of a conversation 2 RWNJs were having about the cool spell and “Al Gore” – and patiently, along with most of the rest of the Court, respond to the HOF JP’s grandstanding about an anonymous letter accusing the Road Dept of various unfair and/or illegal actions – the letter was received by all of us AND the Judge AND the press, including radio stations – 2 weeks ago.  Everyone except this particular JP immediately contacted the person authorized to investigate it (namely the Judge) to verify that she’d gotten it and was indeed investigating it (she had and she is).  This one decided to grandstand 2 weeks later, a fact that is irritating even her supporters.  Finance tonight.  Don’t think there’ll be much contention as the only additional expense for 2013 under consideration is upgrading one of the Sheriff’s people.  I won’t say the Sheriff gets anything he wants, but if anybody will, it will be the Sheriff.  I hope it’s beautiful weather where you are – and you’re enjoying it.  {{{HUG}}} bf

Today is The Most Beautiful Day EVAH! Here Near DC. I hope our hundreds of nonessential Feds are at least enjoying the weather as the work piles up on their desks.
