Thursday Morning Herd Check-in: Greetings of the Moosekin

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Let the greetings begin!

and heading up to 76.  The sun is getting up later and later these days and so am I. Will have to get the alarm clock out or I will be in seriously trouble. Can’t see using the sun as my excuse.

Speaking of the skies, hoping for a glimpse or more of that moon tonight.

Clear, sunny, temperature 52 F. and heading for a high of 77 F. here in Northern Virginia.

I could SERIOUSLY get used to this weather!

Jan, how do you find all these cute animal photos? Makes my day to see them.

Another busy day–must run to the grocery store right after breakfast to get frozen raspberries and heavy cream. Our little one wants raspberry ice cream for dessert tonight.  I usually make it once a year.

Then morning coffee with my niece and great-nephew, followed by a visit to the library, cleaning up the house, especially my office, telephone calls to a charity, other organization, and yada yada yada.

Finished my short story last night and am fairly pleased with it. It’s a decent enough read that contains a hidden lesson. The next story will be edgier.

Did you see the moon last night?  So often in this area a full moon is obscured by clouds, so I wanted to be sure to see it when we could.  Dearly Beloved, granddaughter, and I ran outside to look at it.  “Is it the Super Moon?” our little princess asked. She still remembers sitting on the back porch a couple of months ago as we waited, first for the fireflies, and then the Super Moon, to appear.

You know, m’hearties, today is Talk Like A Pirate day!

We’re going to get rain! Maybe as much as an inch! And even more tomorrow! And — next week, there may be lows in the 60s. Crap, I might have to wear socks.

Meanwhile, eating breakfast & drinking tea. Earworm: In The End by Snow Patrol. “In the end.. there’s nothing more to life than love, is there?”

then much cooler after the biggish storms roll in this afternoon and evening.  The move went smoothly (the only crabby cakes was me — I’m too old for this moving business), however by Monday everything was unpacked and put away.  It’s a remarkably lovely place with wood (or laminate) flooring everywhere but in the bedrooms, spacious kitchens and bathrooms.  Can’t ask for more.  I don’t have TV yet because my provider made a huge mess of installing fiber optics in the building and are now claiming it will be at least 6 months before they get the problem fixed.  Will have another company out next week to set me up with essentials.

70 degrees going up to 87.  Humid and stormy.  Busy day today.  Plumbers coming for estimates, putting in a ceiling tonight, piano lessons, school, workout.  The upside is I don’t have to watch the news.

    Have a great day!

High forecast is mid-70s. There is a 4,500 foot mountain right outside my window, just far enough away that I can see the radio and television towers on top. This morning the mountain is completely shrouded in fog and mist and I can’t see it.

I have been trying to decide if I want to sign up for LinkedIn. Several people have pinged me, wanting me to join their network. I am definitely not job hunting, but understand a lot of LinkedIn users find it useful in job searches. I simply would like to be able to stay in touch with colleagues. Anyone have any experience as a user of that service?

    Saugerties.

Spent the early morning finishing my Sunday opus and got it in a full day before deadline.  Yay!

I’m now free to relax, ignore housework, read a trashy novel, play World of Warcraft with my socialist guild members or just laze around.

We’ve been having flawless weather and it’s such a delight. This is another clear morning with NO FOG AT ALL, even though the sun has not yet risen. Predicted high: 72° at the beach, warmer downtown. I’ve been walking early to avoid the hottest part of the day, something I haven’t been able to say for months. 🙂

Wishing a good day to all meeses!

hot hot (supposed to hit 90 but that’s all) – and then heading back down again.  I have QC tonight (hold the good thoughts – we’re trying for the vet and vet tech again) and haven’t a clue as to when I’ll be home so I turned the A/C on before I left.  I couldn’t get the house temp below 75 this am, so the A/C will probably kick on around 3 pm.  “They” are saying rain is “likely” today, tonight, and tomorrow.  If it happens, which I’ll believe when I see, it will probably be when I’m walking from Old Main to the Courthouse this afternoon.  Sigh.  Hope everyone has a good day.  {{{HUGS}}} bf

I think I’ve found all the plumbing parts I was looking for via phone. I’ll have to actually go the one store and a plumbing showroom today but I hope the actually walking part will be easy.

Creaky knees and broken and leaking faucets have made me less than cheery today…..time for a Lighten up Francis talk with myself!
