Sunday All Day Check-in for the Herd: Greetings of the Moosekin

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

On weekends (and holidays), you may find the check-in thread earlier or later than normal because … it is the weekend! Moosies need their beauty rest:

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Let the greetings begin!

very strange weather for August – not complaining since it isn’t raining, or muggy.

    It’s Spring!

Headed for 83 today.  And, today is the day that a tech appears to take my my new Dell Latitude out of its box and perform magic so that I can use it. Don’t know if it will all get done in one visit. Wish me luck, please, that my back up disk worked and all will bounce back.

Foggy again here in the pre-dawn hours. Spooky-looking outside as fog rakes through the trees and past the neighboring buildings.

Why am I up too early again? Who knows.

Up early today.  The whole family is.  We went o bed early last night after all the fun parties yesterday.  Today I am painting.  My husbands job is to keep the kids out of the way.  His job is harder.

Beautiful weather again here today.  We are very lucky today.

Eating breakfast, watching Up. Going to cook this afternoon, and watch the MSNBC shows. There’s the big announcement from Dr Who today, so I’ll be watching my Twitter feed.

So that’s my plan for the day.

not get rain today.  I know that August has just begun but so far summer has been much more pleasant than last years.  The folks at the Weather Channel claim that much of the county (not the west and southwest) will have a cooler than normal September.

for that old weathercaster trick of putting a break in the heat wave at the very end of their extended forecast.

The break in the heat always is 5 days out, every. single, day. They throw in a 20% chance of rain in there just to make it more enticing. Gets one tuning in when they shouldn’t even bother.  I think the weathercasters just change sports coats and prerecord all of these forecasts and go on a month long vacation.

Hope all have the Sunday they wish to have. If anything is good on CBS please tell me about it as I am one of the people in the nation who it is blacked out to.

here in the eighth-unfriendliest city in the US. The birds are chirping, the sun is shining, and the lawnmowers are flocking.

I’m finishing up two watchbands – all done but adding the hardware – and then I’m spending the day doing home and crafty things. Told Rich yesterday that I need a day that has no other obligations. And what is he doing? Servicing a Kirby for our local distributor. LOL

I had a lovely day in the garden yesterday….no hard projects, just easy fun with lots of rest breaks. Trimming ivy so it doesn’t look like it’s been touched is a medtative pleasure for me. No one else can stand to do my “flower arranging” trimming however….so the pleasure is all mine!
