Thursday Morning Herd Check-in: Greetings of the Moosekin

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Let the greetings begin!

64 degrees and cloudy in the Shenandoah Valley of VA. Chance of thunderboomers.

I accepted the position I was meeting about yesterday afternoon. I’m working on my resignation letter which I will hand in this morning. Secretly hoping they hand me a banker’s box and thank me for my service. If they don’t, I start the new job August 19.

Need professional work clothes. I have always been in manufacturing administration, which calls for casual dress (jeans, closed shoes). I will still be at a plant, but now in the ‘business casual’ area rather than the ‘casual’ area. Subtle difference.

Will haz office with windows. The one that the General Manager referred to is a corner office, but I think he means the center office nearby (mainly because the corner office is huge and it’s not THAT kind of position. Although I wouldn’t turn that office down – it has a couch in it – it seems unlikely to me). Still spacious and with windows either way. I’m not an office snob, but I hate being in an area with no windows.

here in the Hudson Valley – going up to 75.

I often wonder how time flies so fast.  Seems like only a series of blinks and you are propelled through life’s phases.

Am spending the day writing. Will go out to dinner with the hubby-person tomorrow, and looking forward to my weekend Women’s gather.

It’ll get up to 103 today, with a hotter heat index. Sigh.

I’m eating breakfast, drinking tea. Brought all 3 meals today. Will eat dinner on my 3:30 break, then change after work & meet my workout group, since they’re meeting right next door. Yes, it’ll be super hot at 6:30, but I’ve worked out in hotter, and I can stop any time.

So, today: work, really early dinner, workout.

As much as I love and welcome rain, I wish it had been sunny today.  I’m leading a Lammas ritual at a friend’s house in the late afternoon. We were going to do a stately little Corn Dance in the carport, but now we’ll just have to  move languidly around the altar in the living room. Bummer.

In the meantime the dough is rising in the kitchen for the Lammas loaf I’m going to bake. Dearly Beloved will have to take granddaughter out for dinner tonight as I won’t be here to cook.

My daughter, whose birthday is today, e-mailed yesterday to say that (1) she’s broken one of her toes, and (2) the whole family, with the exception of my 19-year-old granddaughter, will be leaving for Yellowstone tomorrow.  I e-mailed back suggesting that she send Granddaughter to Yellowstone and stay home herself!  I’m sure that went over like a lead balloon.

Iriti, I’m doing the Zyrtec and Zantac thing morning and evening and have noticed some improvement. Am mystified as to why the Zantac would improve the urticaria, though.

An absolutely beautiful day here in the Chicago burbs.  And it rained last night ( which we needed) so it is all good.

Going to go to the park this morning then hang until my husband who gets off at two thirty today gets home and we will plant hostas that my mom split and gifted us with.  Our house has a big yard with no landscaping so free plants are appreciated.

    Have a great day!

It’s cloudy, in the seventies with heavy rain headed this way. Hope it’s a great day for all the citizens of Mooseland.

There is a thick bolster of it pushing through the Golden Gate, but none overhead. And it’s still grey out from high overcast. But this is progress, people!

Today’s predicted highs: 59° out here and 63° downtown.

Going to be a stay at home day today. We’re drying some basil, and I plan to make bread and do my jellies today.

    doesn’t seem to have worn off 15 hours later – totally groggy and ability to think is greatly impaired.  Fortunately everything requiring thinking that I need to do today is waiting on somebody somewhere to approve something.  (Did I say “fortunately”?  oops.)  Happy Lammas everybody.  {{{HUGS}}}

    for my birthday good wishes.

You are quite wonderful – and it has made my day today very special.
