Sunday Morning Herd Check-in: Greetings of the Moosekin

Make sure you let your peeps know where to find you!

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least content.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Let the greetings begin!

Up with Steve, slurping coffee, watching my hungry cardinals eat and ask for more food. Today is going to be cloudy, damp, maybe sprinkly. Must go out for milk, coffee, etc. this morning.

  2. Hoping to ease into the day today. Everyone was up too late last night, most especially the children.

Everyone goes away this afternoon, all except us and Son. We get him for another week.

Rainy this morning but Jim says it’s about done. It’ll be hot, breezy, and muggy today.

it was a nice trip, the weather was good and we even got to enjoy some rain. I enjoyed being out of touch especially that we don’t get cell service down in our holler. Grace is a good traveler and caught on the the routine quickly, she loved our cabin because there’s a deck with two sliding doors to the main room of the cabin, she ran in circles jumping up and down onto the deck. Tired herself out properly so she slept really well!. Our old dog was not impressed that Grace could jump onto the sofa there which she can’t reach yet at home. One more refuge invaded, it got noisy a few times. So I bought a water gun and that makes a quick end to noise, both dogs don’t like getting squirted. We used a water gun on our old dog when she got to that rowdy stage so she remembered it. I like that you can be across the room where they think you can’t do anything and ZAP a sharp command followed by a blast of water. I think it’s a lot meaner to not teach them so they end up dogs no one wants anything to do with and it is used only for misbehavior.

Clear and sunny this morning. Supposed to be a nice, warm day, even at the beach.

Everyone sleeping in today or what? Seems suspiciously quiet around here…

Good grief, where is everyone? I’ll go make coffee and come back to see if y’all are awake.

  6. More hot and yucky weather today here. Fortunately I don’t need to go out since I went to the store yesterday. Pulling the sewing machine out and altering a couple things for my niece who is putting together costumes for Heroes Con next month.

Since I don’t care for the weather here I created my own Floral Paradise.

Maybe stormy tonight.  We have friends from Madison coming for lunch with their kids.  Then a birthday party for a five year old this afternoon.  Should be a good day.

My daughter had her end of year big ballet recital yesterday.  I am almost done crying now.  She has a steadiness on stage that I can’t fathom.  So proud.

Also proud of my two year old for not causing a scene during said recital. He was great.

    Enjoy your Sunday!

Expected to be in the mid-80s by the afternoon, so I’m heading outside to get some brush-wrangling in before it warms up!

    Happy Sundogs to all!

Hi! Summer arrived this weekend, it is hot & humid. and there is haze in the air from Central American agricultural fires.  I’m on my way to an ice cream social that’s always the political/social event of the summer. All the elected officials should be there.

I ran home to grab a snack (1 healthy thing before ice cream) & start cooking. On the stove now: quinoa with spinach & portobellos, I’ll let it cool while I’m at the event. When I come back, I’ll cook amranth & add yogurt, apples, oranges, cranberries & nuts. Then lunch & breakfast for next week will be done. WooHoo.

  10. Daughter in IA and I both made cookies for yesterday’s party. Not that there was a contest, but mine were better. 😉

We delivered Daughter in MD and her family, as well as FFDIL, to the airport a little before 2:00. Once home again, all three of us fell into naps. Jim and I are up; Son is still sleeping. Nothing urgent to keep him from it.

House needs to be cleaned up pretty substantially now. Things need to be moved back to where they belong. Floors need to be swept and washed. Walls and woodwork need to be wiped.

A good time was had by all. More about it tomorrow.

  11. 🙁

No planes to Memphis tonight for FFDIL. Not sure what the DinMD family will do to get back to Baltimore. Kids have school tomorrow. Maybe they’ll have a sick day instead.

They haven’t eaten since lunch. It’s bad all around. 🙁
