Tuesday Morning Herd Check-in: Greetings and Grazings of the Moosekin

Make sure you let your peeps know where to find you!

If you are new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh.

– Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does.

– Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment thread gets longer, it takes a bit to reload and the comment may not display as quickly. Clicking the Post button twice posts the comment twice. (h/t Khloe)

– When creating a new diary, remember to choose the Draft option (near the bottom) while you are working on it. Choose the Public option when you want to publish it. (h/t Khloe)

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Here is a great link to have open in a tab: Motley Moose Recent Comments

Woke up sleeping on my side (a big no-no) and in some distress. So here I am while I wait for pain pill to kick in and send me back to bed, where hopefully my rebellious body will behave itself.

Haven’t checked the weather but it feels pretty mild, I’m guessing about 50°F outside. What’s up for everyone’s Tuesday? I’m planning to go get the burrito I missed out on yesterday, a super veggie one with extra salsa. Yum!

from deep dark Near DC. I love getting up in the dark.

How can we control what side we sleep on? In bed, I trade off effects on hips and shoulders of sleeping on sides and back, but that doesn’t mean I can do it in my sleep.

It’s hard to write when it’s still dark. Maybe it’s just harder to think.

To kitchen to pour coffee. BRB.

32 now, heading for a high of 52. That should melt yesterday’s snow and ice for sure. Foggy this morning and supposed to be a rainy, dreary day, but I am not bothered at all because…

    TRS WILL BE HOME TONIGHT!!

  4. Feel about like our weather. Will probably go back to bed for a while after I get niece to work. I only have to take her now someone at work will bring her home. That saves me an hour on the road and about $40.00 a week in gas costs.

Changing art work on the living room wall. This one called Phoenix Rising is up.

  5. They are ok and topped off. But, it was kind of weird. There are a lot of you out there. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised.

Which is a more important human quality in terms of running the world and our lives?

I’m thinking superstition wins by a mile (1.609344 km).

drive in the ice we have on top of snow and freezing “slrain” (slush + rain)

He just told me that we are to expect another snow storm next Monday – WHAAAAAAAA

Right now it is 31 here in Saugerties.

I’m on coffee #3.  Have to finish writing BKos for today and have appointment with my tax lady tomorrow – have to find where I stashed all the W’s.

Sigh.  I wish I was a person who was hyper organized.  My filing system is non-existent.

    Hope someone has spring (somewhere)

overwhelming me too soon and wants to go at my pace.  That’s nice!!  But, she thinks I’ll be quick on the pick up.  She thought I should be on the ‘work remote a couple days a week’ within 3 months.  I’m not sure about that though.  Have a small list of things to start on this morning when I get in.  Already ‘invited’ on to the daily 9am ‘what’s happening’ calls.

likely this afternoon.  Snow showers later in the week.  Off to do laundry and then back home to get the house cleaned and in shape for the possible tomorrow arrival of a new pootie.  I’ve been spending time with her at the local Humane Society and if she is still showing up on the website at 6 pm tonight she’ll be mine!

I’m using a variation on Iriti’s “Set an alarm” theory of Taking Care of Business. I wrote this last night to put on my front door.

a grumpy awakening, the coffee seems to have worked. The happy exchanges have sure helped, thanks to everyone. It bothers me to wake up in a bad mood and makes me think I need to make some different decsions through the day so I can sleep better. I’ll let you know if this works.

  11. raina

highs today are expected to be in the 80’s. I hope it stays that way.

Off to see the dr. shortly. I was referred to a cardio and picked the office that was more convenient to me a couple of weeks ago. They want me to get an ECC (today) but insurance won’t cover it at that office, but in another office smack dab in the middle of downtown San Antonio. That’s so stupid because it’s the same doctor. I hate the network thing, but it’s what I can afford.

Then I have to go to the regular office tomorrow for a holter monitor, return the next day to take it off. Just a heart condition to see if everything is ok.

    Later peeps.

I just spilled pinpoint-sized pellets of Effexor all over my desk and in the carpet. Screamed loudly, scared poor Alice who was on her way into my lap.

Must vacuuuuummm now lest kittehs eat the medicine.

Attention span goes boom.So much for the work I was doing.

    Sigh

She’s coming to take vitals and prick my finger (to test blood-thinner level). So I’m debating whether to just stay up until she’s come and gone, which I think will be about 9AM. Then this afternoon I’m expecting a delivery of meals for the week from Project Open Hand. So just when am I supposed to nap, anyway? My doorbell isn’t that loud and I’m afraid of not hearing it while asleep.

Ahh, lots of coffee is probably the answer. And maybe I’ll just give up the nap idea for today (if I can, which I doubt, because when I go to elevate my leg I always doze off) and go to bed extra early tonight…

…to see if I still had page numbering. I do.

While browsing through my pix I found some from when I was on a kick messing around with digital effects. Here’s a shot I took from my Paris hotel room in 1986, given a suitably urban look to it. 🙂

I took this shot from the top of the Empire State Building in 1987 or so. Could have refined it, but it was a quick-and-dirty way to highlight the Chrysler Building. 🙂

It’s a nice albeit cloudy day in Tolar Texas. Sweater weather at the moment, headed for a high of 74 today. Comfortable weather for gardening, lots of that going on right now.

I’d like to say I’m in gardening mode, but that is so not happening. I over did it big time on Saturday at the sheep to shawl workshop. While it was a lot of fun, I do have a new reality in which I’m going to have to admit I have limits and learn to live with said limits. Sunday was not fun I barely moved, yesterday I slept late and had less pain–today is promising to be much better. Another crock pot day, a few odds and ends to work on craft wise, and a nap. A nap is definitely on the agenda.

Hope all is well with y’all :o)

I’ve got to tend to business today….just ignoring things does seem to be time limited, and my times up…..yikes!

  19. lauraquilter

We’re later than most of ya and so sorry, our weather is so nice. Even with a “storm” coming in tonight. Yeah right, rain that I can still walk the dogs in. I’ll be quilting away like usual after I walk the dogs.

  20. slksfca

Didn’t sleep, but it was still pretty relaxing and restful. Now I think I can deal with the day ahead. 🙂

…was the season premiere of Dancing With The Stars, one of my TV guilty pleasures. Hard to tell yet who’s going to turn out to be decent on the floor, but for some reason I always like seeing Wynonna Judd (even though she didn’t dance so well last night).

One of the contestants is the newest Bachelor, a big hunky blond dude. I was uncharitably amused to watch him dance like an embarrassed dork.

The show appeals to me because I did a little ballroom dancing in college, and I do like that the show, even though it’s not a REAL competition, is probably responsible for an increase in interest in ballroom in this country. 🙂

  22. slksfca

J/K, she’s very nice. And this may be the last time she visits, depending on what my doctor says on Thursday. I’ll be really glad to have all the home visits come to an end, partly I admit because they annoy me, but partly as a sign of healing progress.

Now I have a delivery to wait for this afternoon, for which they kindly gave me a two-hour window (3:30 – 5:30) so I can probably grab a nap before then without getting into trouble.

And that’s the latest update from Liveblogging My Day. Thanks for staying tuned. 😉

Greetings from the north east corner of the Bay area, where I’m visiting my oldest friend. (heh). A comfy greyish day. I’ve been exploring her little town this morning while my friend is a work. They have geranium bushes here. Armpit high. Blooming. Pink jasmine is blooming, too. Heavenly. Now making up a lunch salad – not sure yet what we’ll be doing this afternoon.

Actually, I was distracted by the nerd test & the F-bomb.

Anyway, Michael Eric Dyson & guests yesterday on the Ed Show, John Scalzi’s essay here: http://whatever.scalzi.com/, and Henry Rollins’ (yes, that Henry Rollins) essay here: http://www.underthegunreview.n… have restored my faith in humanity. Of course, all the talk about the anniversary of the war is eroding it again.

Anyway, I’m eating dinner & watching tv.  How was your day?

  26. hangs in the air, in the most delicious way.

Friends joined us for the evening and have gone now. Roasted veggies, chicken parmesan, fettucini, lettuce salad… Dessert was a mishmash of sweets — the last of a tub of vanilla ice cream, some chocolate cookies from the freezer, ice cream sandwiches, and some girl scout cookies. Everyone had plenty of food, drink, laughter, and conversation. It was great. I do love having friends over.

Tomorrow will be simpler and quieter than today.

Heading for bed. Have a good night.
