Make sure you let your peeps know where to find you!

If you are new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting. Check out donnamarie’s 1/5/2013 Introduction diary for some info on new moose and old moose (and leave your own intro so we know whoose yoose are).

The big stuff:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh.

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in)

This is pretty darned easy to remember … the posting rules for a new diary:

Be excellent to each other… or else

From Kysen’s keyboard to your eyes:

Think of our comment threads as dinner table conversations. We start with the assumption that all come to the conversation with good intentions and go from there. If you get upset or angry, get up from the table and step outside for a bit.

For those looking for a second chance to make a first impression, that is very good advice.

Dad and I returned late last night from six days in the UK. We were in Leicester for the meeting of the Society for Historical Archaeology. It was an excellent trip. We had the opportunity to visit the potteries museums as part of the pre-conference tour. We also saw the exhibit of the Staffordshire Hoard. Wow, talk about Anglo-Saxon goodies. I was part of a session on animals in the urban environment from 1500 to 1900. It was a good session and a very good conference.

Attemting to wake up. Yesterday: permit posted, driveway marked so planning person can determine our street address, big tree stump cut down (thanks to neighbor across the street), ugly gate gone, area where workshop is going now ready for excavator to do his thing.

Iriti’s new bike is a win. She rode it for about a half hour yesterday, no trouble shifting for hills. Mine, on the other hand, needs a bit of adjustment.

    Need more coffee…

I am not going to get any work done today cause the hubby is home from work with some kind of flu.

Not to sound sexist,(heh) but men are not very good patients 🙂

59 degrees here in the beeootiful Shenandoah Valley. Of course that’s supposed to be our high for the week – it’s all downhill from here.

The good news is that I got to ride my new bike yesterday and I love, love, love it. Also yesterday, finished some last minute land clearing tasks in preparation for the guy to come grade the driveway and the pad for trs’ workshop.

    Happy Monday all.

it’s really cold this morning and not expected to warm up much. And no moisture with this front, just very cold and very dry. It’s possible to work up a static charge waling across a wood floor when it’s like this, that was so startling to me when I first moved out here.

Thanks for the suggestion to wait to run the Java update.  I probably wouldn’t have seen anything on it this weekend if I hadn’t checked in at The Moose!

at 10 PM last night.  Like 7 degrees warmer (47 vs 40).  Heavy Fog, light mist.  Going up to mid 50s, then, once the sun goes down, dropping like a stone.  Should be 40 at 7PM.  Just what the body needs when it is recuperating from a cold.

should be around 29 and once it get to around 20 I’ll bundle up and go work on chiseling the ice off the car.

Feels more like March than January. Still fishing in a very shallow employment pool with no bites.

Dink is at his regular vet today for an exam and review of his records from the emergency vet yesterday. He refused food again this morning and had some more of that black, watery stool. It’s hard to be a 15 y/o old dog. :/

E-vet pretty much wiped out our emergency funds, but I might get a UI payment tomorrow. We’ll see…

  10. The Mississippi has been running low so I expect those managing Douglas Lake will spill all that down the Tennessee River. In about a month and a helf, though, water will come flooding back into our bay and the sailing season starts again!

27…Yikes. It was so hard to roll out of my nice warm bed and get the youngest kiddo off to school. Hopefully one more round of tea will help me get the Monday morning charge started–maybe. A Monday afternoon charge is looking pretty good at the moment!

Wow..Promo for a new show on the tv…Good grief..Reality tv has gone off the deep end…Best Funeral Ever? Seriously?? And guess what it’s made in Dallas Texas. How long before this hot mess becomes one of the reasons Texas should be allowed secede?!

eecckk! 13 degrees all of a sudden, feeling colder with the wind chill. not my favorite weather but at least there’s lots of sun keeping my S.A.D at bay.

Jan, the high priestess of geekness, i have a question about pic coding i hope you can answer. been fooling around with posting pics, i know there’s a bandwith issue. my pics in preview are huge and Photobucket changed their format, so i can’t resize them there.

can you show me where how to adjust for appropriate Mooz sizing in the code please?

  13. Mid 30’s going to mid 50’s wasn’t in the advertising for So. Cal.  Thank God we’re heading into a warming trend that will have us at our normal winter highs of mid 70’s.

…you’re thinking of. I am happy to be called moose, schmoose, transmoogrified, to moozy along, be your artistic moose, but Atty. Gen. Edwin Meese III I will not be named after/for.

Now if there is another more virtuouse Meese you had in mind, I am willing to negotiate.
