Tuesday Morning Herd Check-in

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, … or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

72 now heading for 83 later.  Just skimmed the news and now need coffee and a calm mind to peruse it. Hope it’s a good day for all.

It’s very depressing when we have a heat index temperature even before sunrise — ours was 84. Blech.

Eating sweet potatoes & drinking tea. My twitter feed is always funny this time of day because it’s lunch time in Dublin & all the Irish tourist accounts I follow are tweeting pictures of lunches & lunch specials. Given how sleepy I am, they seem to multiply every time I open my eyes (kinda drifting off every few minutes — don’t worry, I’m awake while I’m driving, it’s sitting quietly at my desk that brings on the drowsing)

earworm: U2’s Invisible, but even Bono & a bouncy tune aren’t keeping me awake. If only I could feel like this at 11pm.

Srsly cannot believe we are debating whether or not to RE-RE-RE-INVADE Iraq bcs Republicans and their TVs are shouting “terrorism!”–as if we are living through an alternate version of World War Z, where a zombie bite turns people into Dick Cheney on meth…

so I could sleep – but not really hot yet.  (We’ve only breached 90 twice so far this year.)  The annual report just came out of the “not due yet, handle other stuff now” category and moved into the “due in 2 weeks, have to have it on the Chair’s desk by Monday” category.  Of course I still don’t have any of the information needed to actually write it.  Silly old me thinking people would actually send me information.  Sigh.

Really the last “Grey” report – Aleta send me an email yesterday, they’ve changed his name to Drew – fine by me – love that name – it’s what I named my younger son 🙂 – and he’s settling in just fine.

Hope the weather is whatever you want it to be in Moosylvania!

I’ve got a fasting lab test scheduled today so my no food, no coffee, still sleepy state of mind is grumbly. And Heide is asking to go out so that means the crows will start squawking at us too…..oh woe!

  7. Diana in NoVa

in NoVa. Jan, I saw the news about Wisconsin and hope you were okay! Thank goodness you have the basement.

Scorching here so we’ve had to turn on the a.c. Today is a Code Orange. I hate the thought of Miss Pink Cheeks being out in it for half a day, but her parents have paid for it, so there we are. The child has a mind of her own–she refused to wear the cute outfit I picked out, that has primary color paint splashes against a white background.

Hoping Hubby will water the garden and get some gas in my car. I’m still working on a Litha ritual, now trying to find the music to go with it.

Couldn’t help but utter a groan when I heard about more troops for Iraq. Will it ever end?

Hope everyone will be able to stay indoors, cool and away from thunderstorms today.
