Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

Thursday Morning Herd Check-in

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, … or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Miss Pink Cheeks is still asleep in the next room. Grandpa and I are still in bed, drinking our early morning tea and catching up on the news.

The news is terrible, as usual. Now our Canadian neighbors are experiencing mass murders by lone gunmen? After the Santa Barbara mass murders Michael Moore said, “There’ll be another one soon.”

    There always is. It’s insane.

Today we have to tidy the patio preparatory to assembling the little umbrella table and chairs and inflating the wading pool. We’ve invited Pink Cheeks’ four-year-old cousin to tea and a splash party tomorrow afternoon.

Hope all in Moosylvania will have a good day!

I may regret having driven to work today. The X-Games are starting, in front of the Capitol (next door to my building) & Tony Hawk has a demo that starts at 5. Maybe people trying to get to that will be logical & let those of us trying to leave do so? Yeah, I don’t think so either. Incentive to ride my bike to work tomorrow, even though it’ll be 95 going home. (note to self: fill camelbak tonight)

Had an apple only slightly smaller than my hand, now toast & almond butter & really strong tea.

    earworm: Invisible by U2.

Walmartians have showed up for their annual invasion – right now a group of 200 or so are down the hall cheering some specious report or other (something that keeps the full-timers on their side – this is largely the group that actually gets the $25K salary with benefits).

Grey hit my front room window hard enough to crack it the other night.  I think it hurt because he hasn’t done that again – a good thing since another hit like that and it will shatter.  I’ve called the lady who said she’d take him in July if things didn’t work out and she’s trying to clear some space to take him next week.  I don’t know whether or not I’d ever be able to get the boys to integrate, but Grey wants out too much for me to wait that long.  2 screens and a window are enough damage, thank you.  Where he’s going is enclosed but much larger than my whole house so he should be happier.  Especially since the returning student I’m renting a bedroom to moved in last night and she has a dog.  (Elderly golden lab – sweet dog who doesn’t bother the cats but definitely another stresser for Grey.)

Hope the weather in Moosylvania is what you want it to be. 🙂  Take care.

the damp makes my bones ache.

    🙁

keyboard pounding all day – sigh.

Hubby stayed home from work today and keeps calling me from upstairs to come up and  “fix” his computer – me – the non-geek – lol.

A little progress on my endless list and lots of leg up resting makes me a dull one this morning. I’ve read the internets until it’s all one big sense of outrage blur, I’ve found all the new music I can stand, and I’ve polished off more Mahjong boards than I want to count…..oh woe is frustrated me!

It’s warm enough to move my leg up spot outdoors so I’ll try computing from the patio today.

and sent it back to the researcher who wrote it originally. It’s like taking apart a house, removing bricks in groups and returning them, adding and subtracting bricks until it’s a stronger house. I’m crossing my fingers that it won’t fall to pieces when he looks at it.

But now… out to the balcony while there’s still some sun peeking through the clouds.
