The common Moose, Alces alces, unlike other members of the deer family, is a solitary animal that doesn’t form herds. Not so its rarer but nearest relative, Alces purplius, the Motley Moose. Though sometimes solitary, the Motley Moose herds in ever shifting groups at the local watering hole to exchange news and just pass the time.

    Heading up to 70 today, woohoo!

    Around here, March did the lion thing up to the 30th and then gave us one day of out like a lamb. Here’s hoping it sticks.

    It is 43 degrees, here Near Washington DC, on its way up to 67. I peeked at the Madison weather and it is 26 with a high of 51 but they are expecting an ice storm tonight into tomorrow. I hope it does not delay my return.

    Yesterday we walked the memorials. Two were new since the last time I was there: the WWII memorial and the MLK memorial. The WWII memorial is nicely done, but this one moved me. Great spot for it, also … Dr. King has a nice view of the Tidal Basin.

    According to my fitbit, I got 5 hours of sleep last night. That may not sound like a lot, but it’s more than the 3.5 – 4.5 I’ve been getting. I feel much better than yesterday. I’m eating my kale breakfast – the orange makes an interesting contrast to the kale & garbanzos.

    Muggy – 70s & not quite raining. They say it might actually rain this afternoon, but they’ve said that before. It rained enough to get the car extra dirty.

    Today – work till 3, go get squished. I see the doctor on Friday, then I’m out of there. I’m really hoping this doesn’t end up being an expensive mistake.

    We started cleaning and moving the patio furniture yesterday….nice to see our outdoor living space come back together.

    This morning will be busy with Marcus coming to prune the laurel hedge, remove two small trees and help me with the Camilla. The grand girls will be here for the afternoon, so it’s going to be a good day.

    should be nice here in LA today  (I know I know(). ms. bubba heads to China for a week to look after elderly parents.  Several big deadlines while she’s gone, so bubba’ll be pretty busy.

    high of 67 F. or thereabouts, as Jan said. Not one word was mentioned about cloudiness in last night’s forecasts. I think I could do as well at forecasting the weather as the weirdos we have on TV.

    Yellow daffodils are waving in the breeze on my street, I love them and yellow is my favorite color anyway.

    Sent two more chapters of the novel to the dtp last night. I wrote Witchfire umpteen years ago but now have decided it would be good to publish it on Smashwords. Also signed up for the NaNoWriMo marathon on April 12. Who in the world decided that November was the best month to write a novel in 30 days? It certainly wasn’t anyone female.

    Took Miss Pink Cheeks to day care; after I pick her up this afternoon we’ll get her hair cut by Miss Kim at the Hair Cuttery. Pink Cheeks is going to spend the weekend with us so I have to find some “scientific experiments” for us to conduct on Saturday afternoon.

    Only one more scene to write for college granddaughter’s birthday story–yay! Then I can let it cool for a couple of days before I insert the illustrations.

    might get some rain overnight (60% chance).  Yup, Spring has arrived.  Probably do one more fire – two max – before I clean the stove for the season.  The daffs were not phased by the hail we had last weekend are going gangbusters.  The peonies are sending up shoots.  Seeing some blooms on my flowering pear and a few on my sweet cherry.  I’m afraid the cherry tree is dying (heat stress from the last 3 summers – just doesn’t seem to have recovered). I’m trying to find an honest-to-goodness arboralist to see if it can be saved.  The solar panels got here yesterday and are stored in my backyard until the racks are mounted and the wiring in.  Hope for the world or something.  {{{HUGS}}} bf

    There’s an “active shooter” situation at Ft Hood. I’m just about to burst into tears. What is wrong with this world?

    There’ll be another call from the blood bank for donations, like after the drunk driver, and I can’t donate — lived in the wrong places at the wrong times. The last time there was a Ft Hood shooting, I pulled up the Red Cross page, and they don’t want my blood.

    Got squished & re-wrapped. Wearing my flip-flops again tomorrow — as much as I want rain, I kinda hope it holds off.

    Oh – there’s a happy story about one of the drunk driver’s victims — she’s sorta walking with a walker (only on 1 leg, but still), and hopes to be walking by the time of her high school’s graduation in May.

    Must sit on the floor when I’m done eating & squish my feet some more. Sigh.
