Friday Coffee Hour: Check In and Hangout for the Herd

Good morning, Moosekind. TGIF!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

Friday Coffee Hour and check-in is an open thread and general social hour.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

    :::cue bewildered look:::

Wednesday it was 70 here. Yesterday it never got near freezing with a wind chill advisory (highest winds since Sandy came through). Today…well it’s 30 now, headed up to 60!

Headed to Louisville, KY for work next week. Never been there.

even though its 19 degrees here and doesn’t feel like spring at all.

Our students have headed home with no big beer bash thankfully – the big talk on my local northeast public radio was the students busted at UMass

  3. It is 39 degrees here in Madison and the expected high is 47. Then 39 tomorrow and 26 on Sunday. Sheesh!! Hey, March!! Time to get with the program, it is almost spring.

Have a great trip, iriti. I have never been to Louisville either. In fact, I am pretty sure I have never been to Kentucky.

Today is Friday and I have a ton of work to do. I spent most of the last two weeks working on a particularly thorny problem that I finally fit all the pieces of the puzzle together on yesterday. Now it is time to get caught up!

Last night, Rev. Dr. William Barber III spoke in Madison WI to an assembled gathering that did not include me (past my bedtime). Here is a YouTube uploaded by the blogger bluecheddar:

Singers carry Overpass Light Brigade letters that spell “Forward Together” into the Bethel Lutheran Church of Madison, Wisconsin where Rev. Dr. William Barber spoke to a packed audience on 03-13-2014

Rev. Dr. William Barber is a key leader in the North Carolina-originated “Forward Together” movement – which is also known as the “Moral Monday” movement.

Mary Ray Worley wrote the song that is being sung in this video. Many of the people singing in the front of the church have taken part in the daily Solidarity Sing Along tradition that is 3 years strong in the Wisconsin Capitol Building.

For a little background on the Moral Monday movement of North Carolina and Rev. Dr. William Barber, see this link: http://www.bluecheddar.net/?p=

Stay out of trouble, all y’all!

Still gutted about the DWI thing — there are 2 more people still in critical that the hospital is publicly saying they don’t know if they’re going to make it.

Meanwhile, it is gorgeous here. But I’m not sleeping. And the wrappings hurt my feet — making my sleep even worse. But I have a really pretty U2 song as my current earworm (Rise Up)

So, a big mixture of stuff, hence “meh”.

Got AIDS Ride diaries here & at the orange place.

Housework to do, steak and mushroom pie to make for dinner, although it will be baked with the pastry top in the early evening. The trifle is mostly made and reposing in the downstairs fridge–all I need to do is spread a one-inch layer of sweetened whipped cream over it and scatter the sliced almonds on top. The jury is still out on whether to toast the almonds before scattering them. I shall give the matter some thought with the left-over part of my brain.

Wish Dearly Beloved would hurry up and make the coffee. Having been forced to make coffee against my will for many years of my life, I now require the men in my life to do it. Incidentally, it was not my husband who forced me to make it, it was my late father and various bosses during my work career.

So my friend, who’s driving down from Pennsylvania, should arrive in time for tea and we’ll have a great chat before dinner if she isn’t too tired.

Are you all as mystified by the missing aircraft as I am?  I can’t help thinking it must have been flown somewhere that radar is inoperable. The whole thing sounds SO bizarre!

Well, it’s already 9 o’clock, so got to get moving!  Everyone have a wonderful Friday and weekend!

it’s sprinkling as of 7:30 (effen)DST and my joints are telling me loud and clear the front that wasn’t due until tonight got here early.  I’m hoping for a “donut hole” from 4:30 – 5:15 as I’m walking home will-I-nill-I as my ride is leaving early today.  Our Spring Break doesn’t start until the 24th, of which I as staff get none, to be followed immediately by advising (3/31 – 4/4) and priority registration (4/7 on) for May Intersession, Summer, August Intersession, and Fall.  (Are we having fun yet?)  Anyway, enjoy the weather and the weekend if at all possible.  {{{HUGS}}} to Moosylvania.  bf

I’m sleepy and slow this morning….trying not to nap already. I’ll stay awake until after my pool workout and then I’ll have “earned” a midday snooze.
