Motley Monday Check in and Mooselaneous Musings

 photo monday-456_zps6d31ba04.jpg

Good morning Motley Meese! Hope your weekend was lovely. This is how it is starting too look at my house, where the universe has apparently failed to notice that it’s March already now cut it out!!  ::takes deep cleansing breath::

PLEASE Don’t Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

The check-in is an open thread and general social hour.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

Ice here, snow at home and us stranded. We were supposed to be on the road tonight & tomorrow, but I think not. Instead I’ll work remotely Monday & we’ll travel on Tuesday.

Curse you Puxetawney Phil. And your little dog too!

  2. -5 in Madison with 20 below windchill. Windchill advisory in effect until 9am. The temperature is still dropping and will hit -12 in a couple of hours before it starts on its way up to the expected high of 14 degrees.

I am glad you chose to stay put, iriti. Not a good day to travel. The Federal Government is closed today because of the snow … your bosses will understand.

    Have a great day, meeses!

just grateful the snow bomb didn’t happen.

Getting dressed to head to school.

Stay safe Iriti, stay warm Jan, and poor Puxetawney Phil seems to have been correct this year, though not always

I want to stay home but some students await- many will be absent today since a paper is due – amazing how that thins out attendance – lol.

are closed, as Denise said. I’m glad my heavily pregnant daughter-in-law is able to stay home today instead of trying to get to work. My son will telecommute and Miss Pink Cheeks will probably cook up a storm in her new play kitchen.

Glad I don’t have to go out in this wintry white world! Iriti, Jan, and Denise, hope you’ll all be warm and dry.

Made the contest deadline yesterday for a short story under 800 words. It was fun writing it.  Today I may focus on the other two stories I’ve got underway.

What can I say except that I hope everyone will have a safe, warm day in this cold white world!

Wow. Hard freeze overnight. It’s 24 even with the sun up. Another hard freeze tonight — with precip! This is just nuts. So – wool & turtleneck & hat & gloves…. in March.

And this was weird: the electric company asked people to conserve by setting their heaters at 68. That’s my normal setting — how warm do other people keep their houses???

Today’s plan – just work & go home. The cover came off one end of one bunch of plants, despite there being a sweatshirt over the sheet. So, some of my aloe veras may not have survived. Or some of the other plants. I’ll find out mid-week. Sigh.

And maybe another snow day tomorrow. More snow days this winter than in the entire rest of my working life combined.

Tulsa once and claimed she was freezing. We kept our house at 72 F. but she was used to 78 F. She used to sit in our living room wearing a blanket round her shoulders.

We keep our house here in Northern Virginia at 68 F. in the winter and wear sweaters. The woodstove in the family room warms the entire middle level in the winter, but in the spring and autumn we use the little electric heater that looks like a woodstove with a window. I get a kick out of watching the fake flames!

Hope it’ll warm up for you again! Weird to think of Austin’s being cold.

After reading everyone’s weather reports I feel fortunate to be in the 40’s. But now that our winter spell is over I can get back to planting primroses…..I’ll plant even more in honor of you all still stuck in the cold and snow!

My green chili mac and cheese was quite tasty, but next time I’ll add roasted red chili powder for a deeper flavored sauce. It was creamy, but a bit bland once it was all mixed together. I made some gluten free brownies too so the house had a wonderful smell of roasted chilies and chocolate.

Always thought primroses were yellow, but perhaps I’m mistaken. Someone mentioned “pink” primroses in a story and I thought surely that must be wrong–but, hey, I’m no botanist!
