Wednesday Watering Hole: Check In & Hangout for the Herd

Good morning meese! Happy happy Wednesday!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

The common Moose, Alces alces, unlike other members of the deer family, is a solitary animal that doesn’t form herds. Not so its rarer but nearest relative, Alces purplius, the Motley Moose. Though sometimes solitary, the Motley Moose herds in ever shifting groups at the local watering hole to exchange news and just pass the time.

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

Headed for 46 today but by then we’ll be long gone. We’re visiting the comoany that will make our log home, then heading to Memphis, TN to stay with my Mom while Sis is out of town.

    Happy Wednesday!

  2. -4 degrees in Madison this morning, wind chill -18. Expected high of 11 degrees and possible snow showers this evening.

It is middle-of-the-week and three-days-left-in-February … a time to assess what I need to get done before Friday.

PLEASE stay out of trouble all y’alls. 😉

I’m having balmy weather in comparison to Jan – it’s 15 degrees here.

Lucky we are only going to get light snow today.

Spending today trying to get ahead of the curve with writing for March – women’s history month.

  4. February has been such a blur that I forgot to check my “Who is having a birthday” list.

I hope it was a good one … and best wishes for a loooong string of happy healthy birthdays going forward.

30s here with snow flakes making an occasional appearance. And a special good morning to princesspat loaded with wishes for her birthday!

snow is sticking to the roads. It’s interesting about snow: yesterday we were treated to the sight of big white flakes whirling and twirling before they landed. Today the snow is falling straight down in very business-like fashion before settling on the roads and other surfaces.

My son is going to take Miss Pink Cheeks to day care later today, which is nice because I’m not feeling terribly well. No sooner do I get over one cold than I get another. Today will be my second day on cold meds.

Hope today will be more productive than yesterday, in which I did nothing but eat and sleep. Scheduled to have coffee with my niece and great-nephew this morning, but will have to wait and see.

Happy birthday, princesspat and safe travels, iriti! Hope everyone will have a good day!

Have writing to do today, and of course I can always do laundry. My husband cherishes the delusion that all illnesses of women can be cured if the said women call in sick to work and stay home to do laundry. I’ll do some and see whether I feel better.

Remember how I was wearing sandals yesterday? Wool socks this morning. Gloves. Long sleeved shirt, cardigan & a hoodie. Effing nuts. It’s supposed to be as “warm” as 40 when I leave work this evening.

Eating breakfast & drinking tea. A whole 4 hours of sleep last night – hey, it beats 3. Anyway, today’s plan is to stay indoors & awake (I drifted off a couple of times yesterday, luckily a lot of my job entails just letting people ramble, so that was ok). Seems like enough work from my perspective.

The daffs are peeking up and even have buds on the flower stems but the only actual flowers I’ve seen were a couple of misguided dandylions and a crocus.  Spring is slowly oozing in (no single-digit lows for awhile and none in the forecast – speaking of forecasts, weatherdude did a lovely job of stomping a OMG/HOF Worst Storm Ever weather hoax yesterday over at GOS).  More travel stuff to process today and still missing most of my future semester textbook requests (plus a few minor accounting journal entries to do) so I’d best get to it.  Stay warm and dry if possible – and safe even if not.  {{{HUGS}}} bf

Still snowy though. Yesterday afternoon the sun came out and water poured off the roof, an amazing downfall. Still more to melt though and the roads are a slippery mess.

I think I can safely drive to the pool this morning though. Exercise in warm water will be most welcome.
