Friday Coffee Hour: Check In and Hangout for the Herd

Good morning, Moosekind. TGIF! Temperature is supposed to be well above freezing here for the first time this week. I think we should all get matching “I survived the Polar Vortex of 2013” shirts. Except you live somewhere warm. Unless your wind chills went below zero, no T-shirt for you.

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

Friday Coffee Hour and check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

    Break out the Bermuda shorts!

I will be so glad when I have my shoulder surgery and can actually sleep without being rudely awakened by a stabbing sensation each time I move. Life’s simple pleasures!

Have a fabulous Friday and a great weekend.

  2. A balmy 24 degrees with an expected high of 34 degrees. This would be a great relief from the subzero temperatures … except for this:

A PERIOD OF LIGHT FREEZING RAIN MIXED WITH SLEET WILL DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON. OCCASIONAL LIGHT FREEZING RAIN WILL CHANGE OVER TO SNOW TONIGHT.

    Sigh. Just sigh.

Have a great day, all y’alls!!

Sigh.  Glad it is warmer but hate to drive in snow. Have to go to the dentist today – my bottom bridge came out when I bit into a cookie and I am now not able to eat anything except mushy things that don’t need chewing till it is fixed – oh the indignity of old age and teeth 🙂

It seems to be just rain that’s falling now, but it’s so slippery outside I’ve asked Grandpa to drive Miss Pink Cheeks to day care. I’m over at her house right now and she just woke up, so it’s time to prepare her breakfast.

I am following the Christie scandal with deep interest. Have never liked him.

My ambition is to not go out at ALL tomorrow. Everyone have a good Friday and a blissful weekend!

I bought a better birdseed with different kinds of seed for the feeder. This morning Fat Cardinal, whom I’ve knowm for years, came and picked out all the sunflower seeds. Reminded me of a human picking the cashews out of mixed nuts!

The point was to attract different kinds of birds who (whom?) I know are out there, especially in this weather. Will it? And will the cardinals permit them access?

Need birdie weight watchers. These birds look perfectly ridiculous with their round tummies.

Oh wait… there’s some sort of conflict here…

but imagine how cold it would have gotten where you are if it had

Eating breakfast, watching Dr. Who. I’m really going to leave the house today, I swear.

last day of the last week of freedom… school starts next week.  In the first two weeks, i have to travel to two meetings,  using up some “please cover for me” capital.

Watching the Christie sideshow yesterday was quite entertaining.

David Horsey, at the LA Times….

Christie has methodically built great political currency among conservatives who would like to see a tough guy as president, but his belligerent bravado could backfire. Muscular leadership is one thing, but not many voters want to give the reins of power to a bully.

The carton, Chris Christie, Beanballer is a well earned caricature.

thunder and lights are flickering.  I’m more or less OK, hope everybody else is, too, and will check back when/if I can.  {{{HUGS}}} bf
