Wednesday Watering Hole: Check In & Hangout for the Herd

Good morning, Moosekind. Don’t forget to let your peeps know where to find you.

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

The common Moose, Alces alces, unlike other members of the deer family, is a solitary animal that doesn’t form herds. Not so its rarer but nearest relative, Alces purplius, the Motley Moose. Though sometimes solitary, the Motley Moose herds in ever shifting groups at the local watering hole to exchange news and just pass the time.

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

The bad news? A code orange air quality alert. Can’t remember the last time we had one of.those in December.

    Happy Wednesday, Meeses!

  2. 36 degrees here with a dense fog advisory until noon. Expected high of 48 then our temperatures plunge overnight into the low 20s for a high then a high of 10 for Friday.

Busy day … I will try to catch up with everyone later.

    going up to 45.

Most of the local news here is still dealing with the metro north train crash.

Tired from getting up very early AM – am on third cuppa coffee.

Today I’m wearing sandals, tomorrow I’ll need a jacket (& gloves on the way home), Friday we could have sleet. This is nuts.

Eating my sweet potato wrap breakfast & drinking tea. Ive got one of my Christmas mixes in the car, so my earworm is a weird mix of Wachtet Auf

and Oi to the World – I love the “and everybody wins” line

Last night I enjoyed one of my favorite December moments….decorating the small tree in my sewing studio. I use the kids old stuffed animals, the ornaments they made in school, ornaments I crocheted for our first tree, pine cones I just like, gifts from old friends, etc. It’s a sentimental tree for sentimental me!

    isn’t supposed to move in until late tonight.  For the next week or so our highs won’t get out of the 30s, if they get that far.  As many of you already know, “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” sux (on many levels).  Sigh. I’ve got 2 mini semesters and 2 full semesters of classes to put together and get approved before the 23rd (then entered before 1/9 – and the University is closed 12/24-1/1) and the entire Criminal Justice team is putting off giving me their requests until they have a committee meeting on the 12th.  Are we having fun yet?  Oh well, I have plenty of work to do on the Sociology side, plus enrolling students in closed classes (with instructor permission), plus dealing with the new procedures (and deadlines) for extra compensation forms for extra classes  taught.  And you don’t really have to ask what I think A. Rand acolytes should do with that “corporate model” now do you.  ðŸ™‚  Have a wonderful Wodensday.  {{{HUGS}}}
