Wednesday Watering Hole: Check In & Hangout for the Herd

Good morning, Moosekind.

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

The common Moose, Alces alces, unlike other members of the deer family, is a solitary animal that doesn’t form herds. Not so its rarer but nearest relative, Alces purplius, the Motley Moose. Though sometimes solitary, the Motley Moose herds in ever shifting groups at the local watering hole to exchange news and just pass the time.

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

This has been a test of the Emergency iriti’s-internet-is-down Network. If this had been a real emergency … YIKES!!! … it is!!!

Light rain, and they said it is finally falling where it’ll do the lakes some good. It is supposed to cool off throughout the day, so…… I wore real shoes. Sigh.

Still confused by New Jersey. How can Democratic elected officials endorse a misogynistic, homophobic, union-bashing Republican. Where the hell is the Democratic Party chairman?? Who the hell is the chairman?? If President Obama felt he couldn’t get involved, where the hell were Biden, Wasserman-Schultz, other Democrats. And seriously, who the hell is our party chair & why didn’t he or she tell Dems who endorsed Christie that they won’t get any party support next time they run?????

Anyway, the affordable housing bonds passed in Austin. My church did a lot for that, hosting phone banks, etc. Several churches did. And my friend Celia is in a runoff against a Republican for an unexpired term for a state rep seat.

The chemo cream isn’t bothering me much. Just a slight warmth. Since I’m putting it on my scalp & thus my hair, I am wondering if it’ll affect my hair – just because it is actually on my hair, not in the chemo makes your hair fall out way.

Gym bag is (still) in the trunk. I wonder if I’ll go today.

Ear worm today suits my mood, aggressively progressive (Love & Reace or Else):

I have an early appointment with the vascular surgeon this morning so I’m trying to focus my foggy brain. She’s skilled and intense so I have to really listen. I’ll be very surprised if she thinks knee surgery is an acceptable risk to take 🙁

All in all, pretty good election results, I think. I’m particularly happy to see that Virginia didn’t want the Cooch. Now if the AG race comes out Dem, that will be a nice turn in the trend.

Mild day here, and we’re planning a trip to Michael’s for a cheap fake Giftmas tree, and Costco for coffee. After that, I’m going to sit home and knit, since I’ve been way overdoing it and ended up having to take vicodin last night.

but that should clear off by noon.  Had to take allergy medicine last night and am still dealing with the “hangover” fuzziness – doesn’t help me politely deal with students trying to get into classes I’m holding for graduating seniors (only 1 section, only 30 seats).  Oh well.  Headlines indicate we had some wins last night.  W00T!  I’ll check a little deeper when/if I get time.  {{{HUGS}}} to the meeses.

Rainy and forty eight and windy and generally a good day to stay inside if possible.  This is supposed to lead to a beautiful sunny and cool weekend.  Let’s hope.  But we had four inches of rain last week and are supposed to get over and inch by the time this rain is over.  Enough rain.

Watched some election coverage last night but christy makes me mad so I quit.  He is so mean.  And man does he love himself.  I just think his shtick will wear thin after the media gets insulted one too many times.

Went to what we hoped would be a victory party at Jennifer’s HQ, but right now it’s 50-50 with her opponent a few votes ahead. Will be going down there shortly to retrieve a folding table and four chairs that we lent to the campaign–Thanksgiving is coming!

It’s 58 F. here on an another fair day, going up to 63. Quite tired so hope to rest and write this afternoon.

I’m still scratching my head over the McAuliffe lead shrinking the way it did.  Either Dems got complacent and thought he was sufficiently ahead that they didn’t bother to vote, or people were too ashamed to say they’d be voting for the Kook and lied about their choice.

Whatever.  If we can just get Mark Herring in instead of “Open Shame” we’ll be doing well.
