The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

On weekends (and holidays), you may find the check-in thread earlier or later than normal because … it is the weekend! Moosies need their beauty rest:

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.”

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else”

    going up to 59

    I hope it stays above freezing for a few more weeks since I have to pay to have the barn pipes blown out.

    Nothing earthshaking to report.

    herd about fall foliage, winding roads, stone walls and then pushed the wrong key and lost it. So, a more mundane greeting to all. And, how about those Red Sox!!!!!!!!!

    Eating breakfast & watching Up. I may or may not go to church this morning. Walk stuff starts right at 12, so I’d either leave early (& I sit in the front, so that would be awkward) or I wouldn’t be able to be early & get good parking.

    Got breakfast mixed up yesterday & I still have a lot of last week’s lunch so all I have to do this afternoon is put lunch in containers.

    It’s cold this morning, but this afternoon is supposed to be gorgeous – partly cloudy & 79. I’m even going to need sunscreen.

    We may get a few inches of snow this evening, then back to fall sunshine. Just drinking coffee, enjoying the quiet, and hoping everyone is well.

    Expected high of 80, and a dense fog advisory, though the only fog I see is the dirt on the outside of my windows, which is only visible because of the current angle of the sun.

    My laptop is in the shop, so I’m using this Acer laptop, and I really miss my keyboard, this one is so damned clunky, and it’s not backlit! It also keeps trying to autocorrect my html. Ugh. Who designs these things?

    My only set plans are finding some good tweets and pre-posting tomorrow’s F Bombs. I just hope this thing doesn’t try to put smart quotes in my html, I’ll kill it.

    I’m also contemplating a big breakfast. (The cats let me sleep in today, do they know it’s Sunday?)

    Good morning…..Maggie, our visiting grand puppy is asleep on my lap, the leaves are turning outside my window, and I’m hoping someone will bring me coffee so I don’t have to move.

    I’m finishing up breakfast (an omelette filled with cottage cheese and salsa verde), after which it will be walk time. Then, later on, some reading and a nap.
