Friday Coffee Hour: Check In and Hangout for the Herd

Good morning, Moosekind. TGIF! Don’t forget to let your peeps know where to find you.

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

Friday Coffee Hour and check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

I have been totally sleep dysfunctional all week. Grrr.

Warm again today, headed for a high up in the mid 80’s. It has been summer all week in the Shenandoah Valley, with near record highs.

Hope everyone has a great day! TGIF,

  2. Already 63 degrees here with the humidity at 98%. Storms expected all day today and tomorrow with highs of 72 or so. But not a nice 72. Cooler on Sunday.

Today I need Strong Coffee …

The events of the past week have been wearying. The sad story of the Capitol Not-a-shooter-but-a-shootee and the terrible things that Republicans are doing to our country have worn me down.

Good news about Wendy Davis throwing her tennis shoes into the ring in the Texas gubernatorial race: giving Texas Democrats the chance to elect a strong woman in the face of so much overheated women-bashing and minority-bashing in that state’s good-ol-boy political hierarchy.

I am going to go back to the speech by the president after I reboot my computer. Something odd happened when I opened Firefox and I lost the ability to play videos.

It is warm and gray here in central NJ. I am headed out to pick up Son 3 from college. the poor kid is taking the LSAT this weekend. Then I am flying to Boston tonight for a business meeting.

My mom passed two years ago today. I do miss her.

We’re getting a cold front over the weekend. I may need to dig out some long-sleeved stuff for next week’s workouts. Today is the usual 70s to 90s, but by Sunday morning, we’ll have lows in the 50s. I’ll need a sweater going to church Sunday.

I’ve got the leave request form pulled up, just need to fill it out & I’m off next week. The good thing about having worked here forever is I have more than enough time. I just need to actually take it. Sleep (or at least stay in bed) late, a good hard workout, and healthy eating, that’s the plan.

Anyway, today: work, charitable campaign kickoff, stay awake through the whole day, early bed because of my ungodly hour Saturday am workout.

was immersed in puter problems yesterday – none of my browsers would play sound, and grading papers

after 4 hours online with geek squad – it was resolved

will be back later this afternoon

Oddly warm here all night long. Odd, but nice. Downside is that there’s a wildfire up in Napa County and a fierce northerly wind has been blowing smoke directly into the City for hours and hours. The smell is intense and I’m sure it’s not good for folks with respiratory issues. So all in all between the freakish warm weather and the poor air quality it’s feeling like Los Angeles around here.

    are supposed to start dropping (and so is the rain) shortly after midnight according to the last weather report I saw.  Rain tomorrow will be just fine (well, it would be better for the Farmers Market if it didn’t rain from 7am-1pm) since I’ll be making stock and doing something with the Arkansas Blacks I fell heir to (they’ve kept pretty well in the fridge since I got them, but then, that’s what Arkansas Blacks are famous for) and juggling my finances so I can help my brother in FL get that dairy cow.  All of which are “indoor sports” made even nicer by the sounds of rain (at least if you haven’t had too much of it – and I promise you, we haven’t).  Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.  {{{HUGS}}}
