We have roads and bridges named after all sorts. My street is named after Herbert Hoover, the ass-end of Sunset Blvd. was renamed Cesar Chavez, and we even have (sadly) a street that was re-named L. Ron Hubbard.

I blaspheme all the time (taking a certain Lord’s name in vain, usually). I know it offends some, but it’s ingrained behavior. There are lots of things I consider blasphemy, like thinking Journey is a good band, voting Republican, or nuts in brownies.

I totally loved mud as a kid, I still think sun-warmed mud feels great between the toes. I have never had a mud bath, and often wonder about the cleanup afterwards.

I invented a cocktail called The Expresso. It was blended, with ice, espresso, cream, Kahlua, and Hershey’s syrup. It was quite delicious. I don’t have a favorite cocktail, it alternates. I love a good Margarita, a real (gin) martini straight up with a twist, Brandy Alexanders, Pina Coladas, and lots of others.

Are there any roads/bridges/etc. in your town named after socialist/commie/pinko types, or are more named after wingnuts/despots/1%ers?

Do you blaspheme often? Can you help it? Do you consider it blasphemy? If not, what would you consider blasphemy?

Did you enjoy playing in the mud as a child? Do you enjoy it now? Have you ever had a mud bath?

Have you ever invented your own cocktail? Was it any good? Recipe? What’s your favorite real cocktail?

Wow, that’s a great question!  I don’t know who anything in Bowie was named after, but I used to live in Greenbelt, where everything is named after either Franklin or Eleanor Roosevelt.

Been blaspheming for a long time.  Nowadays, I’m an atheist, so only the mundane is sacred.

Don’t know that I was crazy about mud, but I loved dirt.  I have had a mud bath in Calistoga.

Never invented my own cocktail.  I do enjoy a gin & tonic.

MLKjr & Rosa Parks & Cesar Chavez, also.

Blaspheme is complciated for me . . . it’s about our heart.

    yes. no. yes.

    no.  😉

  4. With Ceiling Cat as my witness … I would never indulge in blasphemy!!

    Excellent solution!!

I propose a one year delay in the one year delay. Tell your constituents you voted for the one year delay.

I was reading this morning about how the House needs to have some sort of “change to Obamacare” in any Continuing Resolution lest the teaparty lose face. Setting aside the question “do they have any face left to lose?”, I was perplexed to find that they are considering the Vitter Amendment. No, it is not a rule that says that all GOP congressmen must wear diapers when they are throwing tantrums (or visiting hookers), it is a rule “which would eliminate Obamacare subsidies for congressional staffers and members”. In DelusionalLand, somehow hurting federal employees makes up for everything they did not get in the good-stuff-for-our-fundraising-letter bill passed early Sunday morning.

    Hovering ..

    – Ha! Lizzie’s cousins are VERY intense.

    – Quite a vine hover on Jan Baptist Lodewyck Maes’ painting

    – I see some blasphemy …

Does anyone else see the surprised face in the cathedral in the forefront of the Jakob Alt painting?

The only shore thing is that I better go do some work. I still have two clients to email before 9am. Ooops.

Have a great day, Floja Roja … thanks for getting us bombed.

In my metro area Here Near DC, Ronald Reagan National Airport probably fits the first question. Remember, he fired the air traffic controllers. I keep thinking the renaming was a big fat joke on us.

Do I blaspheme? You mean do I string long howls of curse words and pepper my language with obscenities? Then yes.

I liked mud. No mud bath though.

When I was in college we combined Ripple, vodka, and a soft drink called Wink. We called it a Rip Van Winkle.

  6. Gee

In 1938, the League of Nations voted to outlaw intentionally bombing civilian populations.

Wow.  Rules are made to be broken, yes?

1794 – Jan Baptist Lodewyck Maes, Dutch painter (d. 1856)

“So I look to find a riesling to believe…”

1940 – Dewey Martin, Canadian drummer (Buffalo Springfield and The Standells) (d. 2009)

Wow, the Standells.  I never knew!

  7.    Congress haz sad that guy not in Congress hasn’t called them to talk about how Congress should handle Congress’s business.

    Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME):

Collins urged Obama and “congressional leaders to sit down immediately and negotiate at least a stopgap funding measure to avoid a disruption in many vital programs on which our citizens rely.”

Congress (the Senate) has sent Congress (the House) a bill that the president said he would sign. It is not up to Obama (the president) to sit down and negotiate with congressional leaders … congressional leaders need to send him a bill to sign or veto.
