Sunday All Day Check-in for the Herd: Greetings of the Meeses

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

On weekends (and holidays), you may find the check-in thread earlier or later than normal because … it is the weekend! Moosies need their beauty rest:

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Let the greetings begin!

    here in Saugerties.

Sleepy – got up in the middle of the night to deal with the crash, bang of one of my cats doing battle with a mouse in the kitchen.

    The mouse lost.

Eating breakfast & watching Up. Nice to have a morning to sit & watch TV. Didn’t sleep super well, but I feel ok. Today: church, cooking & laundry.

I got some “sleep balm” that has lavender oil & some other stuff, I’ve only used it for 2 days, not sleeping all the way through but I’ll give it a while longer. It says to put it on your temples – which I do, along with neck & feet.

Shaun A. would probably agree with the article by George Packer in New Yorker. Syrian regime and Putin are currently complicit in the brutal killings of ordinary Syrian citizenry.

In plain language, President Bashar al-Assad, along with other members of his regime, is a war criminal. His patron, President Vladimir Putin of Russia, has been exposed as a liar. Putin’s recent Times Op-Ed, while pledging allegiance to the U.N., asserted that “there is every reason to believe” that poison gas “was used not by the Syrian Army, but by opposition forces.” This has been the Russian line from the first hours after the attacks, and, as soon as the U.N. report was released, Russian officials tried to repudiate its findings, though they have yet to offer any contrary proof.

woke up to 60° this morning. We had a full day of sunshine yesterday after about 2 weeks of rain, rain, rain.

Missed y’all and wanted to say hi.

I had fun in the garden yesterday dividing day lilies and planting asters so today is a recovery day. I can see the changes in the leaves on the old maple trees outside my bedroom windows every morning now. Those trees shelter me, and bring a daily awareness of the changing seasons.

Beginning to clear off, and looks like a nice day the rest of the day. Just finished my weekly piece for Jonathan Turley. Feel free to drop in and leave a comment if you are properly outraged at the latest bureaucratic kerfluffle.

I am cleaning up the workshop this afternoon. When you have a lot of tools, it is really nice if you can find them when you need them. If you need me, you can find me out there. When I get it all fixed up and neat, I will post pictures.

Had a difficult day at another blog, and that reminded me to drop in. I haven’t been around in a while. I hope everyone is well and all that.

And a special shout out to all in Colorado. Hugs.
