Saturday All Day Check-in for the Herd: Greetings of the Moosekin

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

On weekends (and holidays), you may find the check-in thread earlier or later than normal because … it is the weekend! Moosies need their beauty rest:

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Let the greetings begin!

but it feels colder in the house – just turned the heat on.

At least it has stopped raining.

Will relax today and do nothing constructive, I’m giving myself a holiday 🙂

to 72.  Am about to skim the news before heading out and will read more carefully later in the day. Just saw some headlines. Is it true that the House is STILL talking about Obamacare? Guess that means there are no other important issues across the nation!!! Who elects these people?

The rain we had the other day took a lot haze out of the air, so the distant views are crisper.  That is nice. I have to put some finishing touches on a report, get it off in Priority Mail before the PO closes at noon, and then try to make some time for myself. I have several projects in my workshop I have been putting off.

Kind of preoccupied these past two weeks. Next Tuesday, Sept. 17 will be the second anniversary of losing the love of my life. Not a day, or even an hour, goes by without thinking about her.

Our Miss Preschooler spent the night at our house as her parents are busy packing. We’ve a long, long day ahead and I’m searching for a pot roast recipe that I used last winter and now can’t find.  I like simple pot roasts, not gussied-up affairs involving dried onion soup mix, cream of mushroom soup, or anything other than beef bouillon, perhaps a splash of red wine, and onions, carrots and potatoes. Oh, well, I’ll think of something.

Have to clean up my horrible office, gather apples, and do laundry. Busy busy busy! After tea this afternoon I’m going to ree-lax!

{{{Otteray Scribe}}} It will be a sad anniversary for you, but you have the sympathy and support of friends. Blessed be.

It may get up to 65° before raining again. Both cats have found sunspots to bathe in, momentarily forgiving me for making the sun disappear for a week. We’ve had so much rain there were rare visitors on the deck last night – mosquitos. Toadstools in the lawn can’t be far behind. 🙂

I’ve got so many to do list going I don’t know where to focus so I guess I’ll just let procrastination continue to guide me. On a morning as dark as this one it’s easy to stay cozy with the my computer and the back lit keyboard. I really like that feature.
