Tuesday Morning Herd Check-in: Greetings of the Moosekin

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Let the greetings begin!

    Good morning Jan and Meese

I’ll be a bit late probably, posting this weeks BKos – rushing home from school and have to transpose the youtube embeds – some of which don’t work here at Moose.

Other than that, waiting for a fresh pot of coffee, checking headlines, will head off to school at around 9:30 EST.

I can’t seem to find it anywhere.  Going to be really nice again today.  Spent a couple of hours yesterday starting to clean out flower beds.  Now, I’m sore in the back of my thighs and lower back.

but hey, we have a 10% chance of rain

Eating breakfast (oats soaked in almond milk with cinnamon & fruit), drinking tea.

Busy day today. Work will be busy, as the day after a long weekend (and the supervisor’s phones are ringing already, someone’s calling in sick or late, damn them). Then workout, then my group’s meeting at 7:30. Ugh.

Few thoughts in my head yet this morning. Earworm: Until The End of the World by U2.

Now that offices are open again I have phone calls to make tracking paperwork-related events that have disappeared into the ether instead of being processed for my benefit. If you don’t hear from me by midday, search the ether with a telescope please. Kthxbai.

I called the pharmacy yet again. They’ve faxed a prior authorization form to the doctor three times in the last three weeks with no result even though I’ve told the dr’s office about the needed insurance form in person twice, on the phone once and in a message once.

I called the doctor’s office again.

    I. went. through. the. entire. transaction. a fourth (fifth?) time, telling them about the pharmacy faxes. I made sure I didn’t raise my voice or get exasperated or burst into tears. I. was. determined. to get my pain reliever killer and my sleeping pills NO MATTER WHAT.

I was even patient when I spelled out my cell number slowly and when she reiterated it one minute later she recited a different number, the home line with no voicemail. I. patiently. (maybe a tiny bit hysterically) recited the number I HAD GIVEN HER ONE MINUTE BEFORE and requested she delete the home number.

She had the nerve to tell me to call the pharmacy first in the future. I did raise my voice a teeny bit then.

But you would be proud of me.

Was dragging my butt this morning, but lay down for a while and it got better. So we’ve made a big batch of salsa (based on a gazpacho recipe), and we’re about to make a Costco run.

Sold a bunch of things over the long weekend, enough to make our ebay fees (though we have to use our overdraft protection, sigh), and now we have a bunch of things to ship out.

At least it’s a nice day; only supposed to be 81 today.

Makes me glad I just ignored the indoor to do list yesterday and puttered around and read outside all day. A rainy day is better spent indoors!

    My shopping list:

    Bread

    Batteries

    Bundt pan

    Buds for books (on Mp3)

The first three were easy. As for the earbuds, I need an L-shaped connection because I carry my Mp3 player around with me, clipped onto my clothes, in my pocket, in my hand, for 4-5 books a week, with me all the time. A straight connection sticks out and breaks.

I tried Target, Walmart, Best Buy (they were very nice & helpful) and Big Lots and didn’t find a single L connection except for one or two expensive ones. I’ve probably looked at all the brands by now.

    Sigh.

upper 80s today and tomorrow, then back to summer for a bit.  When I tried to check a couple of hours ago I couldn’t – no sidebar at all, just FP stories – so thank you JanF for getting me in here 🙂  Hope everybody had a wonderful Labor Day and the coming-back, monday-on-tuesday crazies aren’t getting you down.  {{{HUGS}}} bf
