    59 degrees headed for 79 in the Shenandoah Valley.

    Today is my first day at the new job; I know I have the normal HR drill, plus a morning staff meeting with the local folks and a conference call staff meeting with the not-local folks. I doubt I’ll be around here much!

    I’m not really nervous about today, since I know everyone. More worried about the trip to Hicksville, NY (yeah, that’s a real place) tomorrow. Driving around Long Island has me a little nervous, though I’m sure it will be fine.

    56 degrees in Madison WI, expected high of 84. August is officially more August-like and the highs will be in the mid to upper 80s for at least the next 10 days. The air-conditioning had to be turned on around mid-day but at least the mornings and night are still cool.

    Good luck at your new job and safe travels tomorrow. I will be scarce as well … the list of things that did not get done over the weekend has to be finished before people start work.

    Oh hey. Good morning. Actually I just am doing a hit and run, post the F Bomb/go back to sleep. It’s early on this coast.

    Like every day, foggy AM, hot (but not too) PM.

    My nieces have requested permission to descend upon my household this coming weekend. They are going to see a boy band (I kinda wish they had slightly edgier tastes, but oh well) and I’m closer to the venue than their home is. Should be fun.

    Back to bed now, toodles!

    we’re going to have a return of August weather for the next week or so.  Would rather have the first half of August weather for the second half!!

    Best of luck for your first day at the new job iriti.  You’ll do great.

    At work – fewer internal e-mails than I feared, but omg e-mails from clients…..they gave the other members of my team extra time last week, and there are 70 in the box right now (for 4 people).

    We’ve had lows in the 60s the past 2 mornings, that’s going away. But we’re keeping the highs below 100, which is nice. I brought my gym bag, current plan is to go to the ab class at the bike shop.

    So, today: work (lots & lots of e-mail, plus the normal Monday call volume, oh – and a new person starts today, in the cubicle next to me), ab class, chop up avocadoes for the beans for the week (they’re fresher if you cut them each day, but then you never know if that one is ok or not; this way I know how much avocado I have)

    68, mostly cloudy, but thin clouds, so the sun is peeking through. Looks like we will barely miss 80 today, and it might rain.

    I’ve got stuff to do. Eventually, I will do it. In the meantime, I’m considering embracing my inner slug.

    Have a slight toothache – need to call dentist and see if I can get squeezed in for an appointment tomorrow.  Other than that, enjoying my last week of summer vacation since school starts next week.

    in NY if it is part of the “parkway system” – no giant trucks are allowed.

    I usually stick to driving on parkways – “expressways” like the Long Island Expressway are clogged with commercial vehicles – but then I am a cowardly driver 🙂

    R just got her first tiny paycheck. I knew from the outset this job wouldn’t support her and now I get to watch her disappointment and panic play out slowly over time. God, I hate the modern work world.

    P.S. I’ll celebrate if I’m wrong, believe me.

    another day – but heading back up to summer by the end of the week.  In the process of moving 7 offices this week – 1’s done and working on the 2nd now which will be all we can do today – plus it’s open enrollment, and I’ve got some travel stuff and also some grant budget stuff I “should” have gotten done last week but couldn’t (stuff stuck on the approval chain with the approvers out of the office).  I’ll try to get back later today.  {{{HUGS}}}

    I was to busy last week to go to the PT pool so it’s going to feel so nice to be there….in about 20 mins! Then home to lots of laundry. The towels are all clean again but six beds are needing attention.
