Saturday All Day Check-in for the Herd: Greetings of the Moosekin

Make sure you let your peeps

  know where to find you!

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the Weather Critter Comment are obligatory welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least contented.

On weekends (and holidays), you may find the check-in thread earlier or later than normal because … it is the weekend! Moosies need their beauty rest:

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– The Recommended list has a prominent place on the Front Page because it reflects the interests of the Moose. When people drive-by, we want them to see what we are talking about: news, politics, science, history, personal stories, culture. The list is based on number of recs and days on the list. Per Kysen: “The best way to control Rec List content is to ONLY rec diaries you WANT to see ON the list.

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Let the greetings begin!

Just waving hello before packing the Jeep for our road trip. Kidlet insists she will drive the whole way. We’ll see. Don’t think it will distress my knee to drive an hour or two. Question is whether my over-protective teen will let me.

    Have a great weekend.

It’s around seventy , thinking of going to eighty. My new computer has arrived!  I am a techno klutz and my techno brilliant friend is out of the country so not sure when it will be up and running. Am quite excited. Hope today will be a great day for all Meese,

Going up to a sunny 82.   Am not going to do anything “constructive” today. Will just enjoy the gift of great weather.

    Have a great day peeps.

Foggy again today and predicted to be even cooler (today’s high: 59°) for the next several days, below normal temperatures even for here this time of year. Someone wake me up in September!

So it’s the weekend again. Hope everyone has a good one!

  5. Sheesh! I read the other day we are 600% (that isn’t a typo) over our normal rain quota for this time of year and it is raining again with more rain all week. Pixie’s solution is to go back to bed but I really need to get some laundry done.

Still  feeling real tired but need to be on the Internet trying to find a company that can move my brother’s car and some boxes from California to North Carolina. Then I need to find how we can take the train from there to here.

Once I get Reid out here and clean up a couple more small things on my older brother’s finances everything will be done. I can’t believe he has been gone almost a year. It seems I have been fighting to clean things up after his death forever.

A rather colorful picture today. I am fascinated by space and had this image of a star going supernova with the shock waves emanating out and destroying everything in its path.

my friend L from church sent out a giant email list.

i think things are coming together.  kids are only a bit unglued.  time to take them to their dad’s and get even more done.

am donating books to the library by the bucketfull, and a a few craft and household items to big brothers/ big sisters store, which is called “savers” here.

60 degrees with an expected high of 66-80(not a typo). Rain is headed our way this afternoon. I’m planning a nice walk in the park this morning. Have a great Saturday!

Some funny friends made me laugh so hard yesterday I think I ruptured something. There should be more silliness in the world – it’s healing!

High if 91* today forecast here with low humidity! This is N. Texas, that is March weather!!:)

Got a big weekend full of small trivial things but I will make it a point to go and get some real outdoor exercise since that option is such a rarity this time of year.

Hope everyone has the weekend they wish to have.

A cloudy Saturday here in the chi town burbs.  Staying in the sixties today.  A nice break from the heat.  I’m gonna wear shorts and a sweater today.  Love it.

Have been invited to a costume party tonight.  Kids included but am looking for a way out.  It is people from work, who I like but she lives almost an hour away, my husband can’t go due to work and I just would rather stick around here today.  But I feel obligated to go also.  I have ex catholic guilt over this.

This morning we are watching old videos on VH1 classic.  The music of my childhood.  The kids love it.  Just saw Duran Duran and then a billy squire video.  I miss videos.

    Have a great day!

September than late July.  It’s still in the 60s with a slight breeze and going up only to mid-70s.  Farmers market was swamped at 8 am opening.  Went straight for the main peach vender and by the time I got there, the truck was empty and there was probably 50+ more people in line.  Got some for me but I think a lot of folks were heading for disappointment,  Also picked up a quart of blackberries so breakfast is set for the next week.

The Nats won another one by a walkoff home run last night. The team should be labeled a health hazard for any fan with heart trouble.

    Katie is dozing.

I’m going to start transcribing pages from a Revolutionary War pension file any minute now. Three… two… one… TTFN.

We had some honky tonk fun with Zoe and her band at a local tavern last night…..my ears are still ringing!

We were prolly the oldest and most sober people there, but it was fun to see and feel the music being made.

  15. emeraldmaiden

A pretty good day chez emeraldmaiden so far today. BIL dropped by and helped Rich replaced a balky circuit breaker, and passed on a cordless weed whacker.

Made 6 quarts of pickles yesterday, and then discovered that the labels we got are defective. The adhesive stays on the roll, instead of coming off with the label. I’ll have to take them back on Monday, because I am not going NEAR the mall on the weekend!

Anyway, I made kosher dills, both slices and sandwich stackers, and also a couple of jars of bread & butter pickles. Next B&B’s will maybe have a little sweet onion in, too.

Oh, and made peach cobbler last night. OMG, so good. Used fresh peaches from the farmers market. We picked up blueberries, too, because Rich is agitating for blueberry cobbler. He’s so cute.

    Witness the deliciousness!
