Interrogatories

When you shake hands with someone, do you do the firm grip or just a weak clasp?

Do you use the phone while using the bathroom? Does it bother you when other people in public bathrooms do?

For that matter, do you feel comfortable having very private conversations in public on your phone? Do you enjoy listening to the very private conversations of strangers in public? Have you noticed that people talk louder on their phones than they do in in-person conversations?

Ok, yeah–Scalia believes the SCOTUS couldn’t strike down DOMA because it was democratically passed legislation, but can do so to the VRA?

If we don’t answer a Q today, does it go into our dossier to be re-quizzed later?

that’s why I bought a cellfone, so I wouldn’t have to talk or shake hands..

People not merely louder but duller and dumber and aggravating…shake hands, my foot! My cellfone tried to call me yesterday. No way.

    Firm, but not crushing.

I don’t use my phone in the bathroom.  If other people want flushing and other sounds in the background of their calls, it’s not my problem.

I don’t feel comfortable having people know about my private business in general, so I avoid making calls in public that aren’t boring business.  I marvel at things that people shout (see next question) into their phones in public.  I don’t mind listening in, especially if the talker is oblivious to his surroundings and is saying really personal stuff.  😉

For years, I had a really bad attitude about cellphones.  I was particularly annoyed at people who struck self-important poses in public and spoke loudly.  There was a woman in my son’s allergist’s office (why they didn’t have the usual doctor’s office cellphone ban I don’t know) who was conducting business at very high volume, and obviously enjoyed letting people know how important she and her business were.

Short answer:  If the person on the phone obviously wants me to hear what he or she is saying, I don’t want to hear it.

I’d LOVE to see the list of prolife politicians who have facilitated secret abortions for their daughters & mistresses.

When you shake hands with someone, do you do the firm grip or just a weak clasp? Firm. Limp-fish handshakes give me the creeps.

Do you use the phone while using the bathroom? Only when I’m talking to my best friend and I’m caught short.

Do you feel comfortable having very private conversations in public on your phone? We don’t talk about private things unless we’re in private. The rest of the time we’re busy, so why would we?

Do you enjoy listening to the very private conversations of strangers in public? I’m an eavesdropper from way back but hate it when people talk loudly in public, cell or among themselves.

Handshake:  firm, I don’t know what to do when women offer me a floppy hand to shake

Phone in bathroom:  I usually have two kids to corral in a public bathroom so the phone would be too much.  I don’t care if others are talking on the phone, sometimes it’s interesting.  I don’t know why some people yell at their phones, that is annoying.  I am not much of a phone talker and don’t understand everyone’s obsession with their phones.

(That’s according to my father, who was skilled in the social graces.)

I dislike hearing half of someone else’s conversation. The extra loudness involved is just part of the reason why.

Sometimes it’s necessary to use the bathroom while on the phone.

    no Isabelle Adjani photo..??

I laughed at the Hellen Keller hover…does that mean I’m going to hell..??

not while using…but while working in bathrooms…does that count..??

and I like when people talk loudly on their phones in public…makes it easier to listen in on their private conversations.

When you shake hands with someone, do you do the firm grip or just a weak clasp?  Firm but brief

Do you use the phone while using the bathroom?  Only for web browsing or texting, while at home.

Does it bother you when other people in public bathrooms do?  YES

For that matter, do you feel comfortable having very private conversations in public on your phone?  I’m not comfortable talking on the phone, period.  Double for private conversations.  Only do ’em in private.

Do you enjoy listening to the very private conversations of strangers in public?  Not really.

Have you noticed that people talk louder on their phones than they do in in-person conversations?  YES.
