Just after 11 A.M., the President called. Kaplan picked up the phone and gave it to Windsor. “Hello, who am I talking to?” Windsor said. “Oh, Barack Obama? I wanted to thank you. I think your coming out for us made such a difference throughout the country.”

    POTUS was airborne on his way to South Africa at the time.  While I realize it was no hardship to make that call it is still kind of cool.

    I remember how disheartening it was in 2004 when Republicans put anti-gay marriage referendums on their ballots in the general election in order to get their hating haters to the polls.

    Now they are down to women’s reproductive rights … seeking to overturn Roe v Wade. If last year and last week is any indication, abortion is a political minefield for Republicans; every time they open their mouths more ignorant and insulting comments drop out.

    Women will vote with their wombs if forced to defend their right to plan their families. Go for it, GOP.

    Stay lifted

     

    With a simple sentence, the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has just lifted the stay on gay marriages in California, opening the way for same-sex weddings to begin immediately.

    “The stay in the above matter is dissolved effective immediately,” the ruling reads.
