A SCOTUS Voting Rights Act Therapy Session: LOUNGE IS OPEN

I’d like to think I’m not alone in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision to effectively gut of the Voting Rights Acts that at this point there is a need to express anger and rage before having the ability to constructively go forward.  There were a stream of images that came to me with captions that I found highly therapeutic in putting together.  I wanted to share them and provide a place for anyone in the community to allow their righteous anger to just vent without judgement.

I’m real sure I’ll want to write about this in greater detail and strategies and stuff when I can stop cursing or at if I hear that actual people are getting in the actual street then I’ll be there.  Might even go alone.

while many are seeing this as a ‘victory’….that those same persons will come to find that this stirred up a force they were not planning on reckoning with.

I think that there is a very good chance that Roberts just poked the GOP in the eye….if ever there were a reason to come out in waves to vote AGAINST them, this would be it.

I hope it angers people as it should….and that that anger spurs action….and that that action sees the removal of politicians who are inclined to see today as a win.

    I’m still floored.

But, while I’m no Pollyanna….not an optimist by most measures….I see the potential for this to be another nail in the GOP coffin.

Still pisses me right the fuck off, though.

when the results are in and exactly what proponents of the Voting Rights Act argued would happened has happened?  Does he overturn his own decision?  Does he apologize to those whose rights he’s abridged?

As for Clarence Thomas, he is an African American that was born and raised in the Jim Crow South.  Is he out of his fucking mind?  What the hell is going on in his head?  At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if he’d vote to overturn Loving v. Virginia and allow states to criminalize his own marriage.

and our Attorney General has announced that laws found to be discrimnatory by intent are now to be enforced immediately because of this ruling. I find this incredible and right now I am too sad to be angry. That will come but right now I’m just stunned.

Is there a bigger or better example of the toxicity of radical conservative thought (esp. strict constructionism)?

    I can’t think of one.
