  1. Have you or anyone you know actually bought anything from spammers?

Not me. I don’t know about others

Have you made the acquaintance of any Nigerian princes?

You be silly! It’s the princesses that e-mail me. There sure are a lot of them.

Have you ever tried truffles? Which kind, and did you like them?

Chocolate. Yummy. Or did you mean the kind that costs a bazillion dollars an ounce? In that case, no.

    What is your favorite charity?

    I’ve got a few:

    Planned Parenthood

    Math Circle

    Drug Policy Alliance

    Mother Jones

    Solitary Watch

    Innocence Project

    ACLU

    Union of Concerned Scientists

    More on some of these

Do you still read an actual newspaper? Which one?

    NY Times

Have you or anyone you know actually bought anything from spammers?

    No.

Have you made the acquaintance of any Nigerian princes?

Not sure, but I think one of my best friends actually is from local Nigerian royalty.

Have you ever tried truffles? Which kind, and did you like them?

    No.

    What is your favorite charity?

Haven’t really researched because I’ve never really had that much to give even when working temp jobs.

Do you still read an actual newspaper? Which one?

Sporadically now that the NY Times limits the amount of articles you can read every month.  Every so often I’ll also crack open the NY Daily News and when there’s a particularly salacious story I do admit to reading the NY Post because it will put in the details others won’t.

  3. Have you or anyone you know actually bought anything from spammers?

Spam is good with eggs, I think. Makes it sort of like a cross between sausage and ham.

Have you made the acquaintance of any Nigerian princes?

No, but I had a professor who was from Ghanian aristocracy.

Have you ever tried truffles? Which kind, and did you like them?

    Chocolates, mmm yes!

    What is your favorite charity?

Food, shelter, education, arts. That’s who we support when we can. But I won’t name a favorite.

Do you still read an actual newspaper? Which one?

    No.

No, I’m too busy sending money to my stranded friend in Manila.

You mean the truffles that need to be sniffed out of the ground?  Never had the pleasure.

    Amnesty International.

Nope.  Quit the Washington Post a few years back.

is because someone must be buying from them, or they wouldn’t keep filling our e-mail boxes with crap. Back in the early days I warned my friends as they got their first computers that I would personally murder any of them if they did, so if they have done so, they aren’t telling. 😉

I actually go the long-lost relative-in-Africa variation on the Nigerian Prince scam via snail mail one time. I was much amused. I suppose that’s what they did before the internet? What’s sad is that people fall for it every day.

My local food bank has become my favorite charity. I wish is was located closer (I have no car and it is a few buses away) so I could volunteer in person.

I ditched the L.A. Times when they started running the Doughy Pantload’s stuff, and haven’t picked one up since. I get my news online, mostly not from American sources unless it’s a breaking story taking place here.
