Those of you who are married – church or civil? Did you spend a lot of money or go frugal? Civil and frugal, and it has lasted for over 37 years.

Did you go to your prom? Do you still know your date from that night? I went with a good friends’s brother, and she went with her cousin. Her mom thought that we should go to our senior prom.

Have you ever been on TV? If so, do tell. Yes, I was on the Game Show called the Big Show Down. I won $525 and a waffle baker.

What is better, sunrise or sunset? Sunset–I don’t do mornings.

How long can you hold a grudge? Don’t ask.

  2. Those of you who are married – church or civil? Did you spend a lot of money or go frugal? When I was married it was in a church. Very frugal catering via the local Safeway deli and COSTCO.

Did you go to your prom? Do you still know your date from that night? No

Have you ever been on TV? If so, do tell. Several pledge nights for the local PBS station and interviewed for a special on science fiction conventions.

What is better, sunrise or sunset? Sunset because I am rarely up for sunrise. A night owl here.

How long can you hold a grudge? Probably forever. 😉

  3. Those of you who are married – church or civil?

Well, a rabbi performed the ceremony on my parents’ lawn. I guess that’s “church”

Did you spend a lot of money or go frugal?

Both my fiancee (then) and I wanted a big wedding. My parents offered to pay for it as a wedding gift. They were surprised that we wanted a big wedding.

Did you go to your prom?

I skipped the senior year of HS altogether.

Have you ever been on TV? If so, do tell.

A couple times, but very minor …. I was once in a scene on a show about juggling (no speaking, I was just in background); I have also shown up in shots of political stuff.

What is better, sunrise or sunset?

    Set.

How long can you hold a grudge?

I am working on reducing this to 0. I used to be able to be mad for a LONG time.

  4. Those of you who are married – church or civil? Did you spend a lot of money or go frugal?

We were married the first time in a Congregational church. The second time we got married in a Catholic church. The third (?) time we got married on the rim of the Grand Canyon. The fourth (??) time we got married in the Chicago Temple’s Chapel in the Sky. We get married a lot, probably more than four times. All of our weddings have been pretty low budget.

Did you go to your prom? Do you still know your date from that night?

In 2007 I made Jim take me to prom. He was retiring from teaching at the end of the school year; Son was graduating from high school that May. I’d never been to prom and it was my last chance, so we went. Yes, I still know my date.

Have you ever been on TV? If so, do tell.

    No.

What is better, sunrise or sunset?

    Yes.

How long can you hold a grudge?

mmm…. I am not very good at grudges but there are a few things I will never forget, and likely never forgive.

  5. Floja Roja

Never been married, never really wanted it, never daydreamed about it… but if I did I would do frugal, back yard, with one of my friends who got the mail order ordination to do the deed.

I was attending an alternative school, and never noticed when the proms came and went. It wasn’t something my crowd was interested in.

Never been on TV (unless you count surveillance cameras).

    Sunset is usually more spectacular.

I can carry a grudge for a few years, then I lose interest. It’s easier for me to carry a grudge against a public figure than someone I actually know.

Married:  we got married by a married excatholic priest in a martini bar.  Forty people total.  The day Johnny cash died.

Prom:  junior year only.  Senior year we went camping instead

    TV:  nope

    Sunrise or sunset:  sunrise

Grudge:  tough one.  I can be a pistol if I set my mind to it.  Depends on the situation.

Gustave-Rodolphe-Clarence Boulanger picture. Must be the hairdo ….

    G’morning, moosters!

Those of you who are [or were] married – church or civil? Did you spend a lot of money or go frugal? First was civil; second was church (Deacon Dad helped officiate). Both were frugal and small. Neither lasted more than 4 years (I was the dumper for the first one and the dumpee for the second, so I guess you could call me ambidextrous).

Did you go to your prom? Do you still know your date from that night? Nope.

Have you ever been on TV? If so, do tell. Not that I know of.

What is better, sunrise or sunset? Sunrise – best time of day.

How long can you hold a grudge? Not long at all, which surprises me ‘cus I can get pretty pissed sometimes.

When we got our marriage license, we asked if there was some “Justice of the Peace” who could do the wedding.  Instead, they gave us the card of a Unitarian minister.

Had the ceremony at home with only our dearest friends.  Cheap!  😉

I didn’t go to my prom, but I went to somebody else’s.  I have not seen Lynn in many years.

I think the only time I was ever on TV was when I volunteered for a PBS pledge drive.

I’ve seen better sunsets than I’ve seen sunrises.

Can’t think if I have any grudges.  Not too long, I guess.

  9. Lori Challinor

very low cost, headed to Australia for five years a month later, so didn’t want to haul “stuff” with us.  Lasted 31 years so far.

Been on t.v. – news.  Some good stuff, some not so good.

Trying to post a song that I have been singing nonstop lately and encourages me…okay can’t embed, someone advise!  Here is is in link form:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v

    Married? N/A

Have you ever been on TV? If so, do tell. Yes, answered question in sidewalk interview, will tell later.

What is better, sunrise or sunset? Sunset ’cause I can see it out my LR window. Sunrise, br window, buildings in the way.

How long can you hold a grudge? A “wish things were different” and painful dislike for a family jerk, 56 years and counting. Grudges, not long unless the action was heinous. But that isn’t a grudge, it’s righteous indignation.

  12. slksfca

Not married, but my sisters both went frugal. The normal one had a small reception at the clubhouse by the pool in my parents’ townhome development; the hippie-dippy one had her wedding in Muir Woods, followed by a reception in a shady grove of oak trees between Novato and San Rafael.

I’ve been on TV, as a guest on a local morning talk show to promote a show I was in. I’ve also been on the radio, in a movie, and of course on stage. 🙂

For some unknown reason I did go to prom, but I lost touch with the girl I took many years ago. She and I weren’t romantically involved, but we were pretty good buds. And she was a junior so it was quite a coup for her going to the senior prom.

Speaking of which, my 40th high school reunion is this spring. I won’t be going, however. Haven’t been to one since the 10th and that was enough for me.

Good morning. I’m going to the cd store to buy this one….I know I can buy with a click but I try to support my local independent music store. And the young man who owns it needs to know more about Americana music, LOL!

Gee already answered the wedding part and Flo already answered the prom part, so…

Yes, I have been on TV at least three times that I can recall…The Mayor Art Show in first grade, a TV commercial my daughter and I did for United Way Day Care Centers in San Francisco, and volunteering for PBS. That’s all I can remember. I think I was in the dancing scenes from American Graffiti that were filmed at my high school, but I was either cut out or I’m not remembering right. If you look really really hard in the movie Pete and Tillie (with Walter Matthau and Carol Burnett), you can see me and Floja Roja sitting on a bench in front of the Bus Depot in Mill Valley. Through a car window 😉

I don’t generally hold grudges because I can never remember why I was mad. That’s probably why I don’t have high blood pressure yet 🙂

  15. raina

Was married, now divorced. My sister was, and still is, a notary public and married me at a bonfire. Frugal. I’m not into dream weddings like most women. LOL.

Yup, I mentioned we had a luau at our prom, and I do remember my date.

I was on TV at least once. I was downtown in Sanford, Fl years ago and the woman in front of me was waving at someone across the street, so I looked and it was a local news cameraman, so I waved too. One local station used to do this segment where they filmed people waving at the end, and I ended up in that segment, not the woman in front of me. LOL. Was shown again a few more times.

Sunrise/set- In Florida, it depends on which coast you are on.

I can hold a grudge maybe a day or two. I try to let it go.

  16. Its the Supreme Court Stupid

Those of you who are married – church or civil? Both.  We got married in Mexico, where, as in other civil law countries, it is divided.  Most have the religious ceremony, and then have the judge come to the reception, where the civil ceremony is performed.  We piggy-backed on my wife’s sister’s wedding to have our civil ceremony (which allowed me to start the immigration procedures), and had the chuch wedding and reception four months later.

Did you spend a lot of money or go frugal? Most of the money spent was her father’s, but, yeah, it was a lot.

Did you go to your prom? Do you still know your date from that night?  No.

Have you ever been on TV? If so, do tell.  In 1965/66, my fourth grade class went over to Lincoln Center (Philharmoic (now Avery Fischer) Hall) and Leonard Bernstein conducted a “Young People’s Concert” on Peter and the Wolf, which was broadcast on CBS.  A very cute young me(about 9) can be seen in the audience shots.

What is better, sunrise or sunset? Swiftly, flow the years.

How long can you hold a grudge?  Would you like to find out?

  17. Avilyn

Those of you who are married – church or civil? Did you spend a lot of money or go frugal?

Well, we went church, but only because we got married in Scotland, and we wanted to get married out in the countryside – in Scotland, only religious officials can perform a marriage ceremony at any location; the justice of the peace can only perform it in the office.  Sadly the wind was so bad we ended up having to do the ceremony in the church rather than outdoors.

Not sure if it counts as frugal or not.  We didn’t spend a lot on the ceremony / after party (which was only about a dozen relatives), but we did fly over to Scotland and spent 2 weeks there (combined wedding/honeymoon) so I suppose that aspect wasn’t cheap.

Did you go to your prom? Do you still know your date from that night?  Skipped the prom, instead me & my best friend went out & saw a movie & played pool.  Much more fun.

Have you ever been on TV? If so, do tell. Nope, never been.

What is better, sunrise or sunset?  Sunset, because I’m awake to see it.  😉

How long can you hold a grudge?  A long time.

The few shreds that are left of me will finish answering.

On TV: It was during the Kennedy administration, walking down the street in DC.

Man with microphone: What should the president say to the French?

    Me: How about bonjour?

The president, later: I’m the man who accompanied Jackie Kennedy to Europe.

I’ve also been on NPR’s All Things Considered and had my picture in The Washington Post. Both were undistinguished appearances. I’ve been quoted in a defunct small business/computer magazine and on the front page of a newspaper for unemployed people. This was all back in the 1980s when I belonged to, you know, groups.

I was also quoted in the Post about genealogy 8-9 years ago. What I said was wrong but you can still find it online. The stupid that we do lives after us.

Those of you who are married – church or civil? Civil

Did you spend a lot of money or go frugal? Frugal. I don’t understand why people spend fortunes on big, white weddings. The best wedding I went to was a potluck in someone’s backyard.

Did you go to your prom? No. I went to LA instead.

Have you ever been on TV? Yes, on news reports here and there (for political type things

What is better, sunrise or sunset? Love ’em both

How long can you hold a grudge? I try not to have ’em, but I do. They hold until the issue is resolved somehow.
