  1. Do you still live near where you grew up, or did you end up living far away? If you are still in the same area, did you ever live far away?

I live less than 2 miles from where I grew up, but I lived in Israel for 3 years.

What is the farthest you’ve ever been from home?

5683 miles from Tel Aviv to New York

Do you get homesick, and if so, how long does it take to kick in?

    No

Are you short, tall, or in-between?

At 5’8 I am a bit below average for an an American adult male, but somewhat near the center of the bell curve.

  2. Do you still live near where you grew up, or did you end up living far away? If you are still in the same area, did you ever live far away? Well considering the number of times we moved anywhere I am is close to where I grew up. I was born in Indiana and lived in Illinois, New Mexico, and California.Went to school in Oregon and Colorado. Lived in Colorado, Illinois, and California when married. Moved back to Illinois, went to Indiana to care for Mom, and now am in North Carolina and I refuse to ever move again. 😉

What is the farthest you’ve ever been from home? Canada I guess

Do you get homesick, and if so, how long does it take to kick in? As long as I have a kitty I’m home. Never been homesick. ALways too busy.

Are you short, tall, or in-between? I refer to myself as vertically challenged. 😉

Live where I grew up:  I’m an army brat so that would be impossible.  But we just moved back to my husbands hometown.

Farthest from home:  not sure how to answer this one,  I like to travel but prefer road trips to plane rides.

Homesick:  oh yes, I love to be in my nest.  Depends on where I am…camping is about two days, some lovely cabin in the mountains – weeks.

Tall, short, in between:  five foot six.  About normal for a lady.  I always wanted to be five eight.  My best friend isa six five guy.  We look like Mutt and Jeff together.

Do you still live near where you grew up, or did you end up living far away? If you are still in the same area, did you ever live far away? I grew up in Queens and eastern Long Island. As an adult I have lived mostly in Philly and Central NJ. I did live in the UK for nearly 2 years back in the 70s.

What is the farthest you’ve ever been from home? China–half way around the world.

Do you get homesick, and if so, how long does it take to kick in? I love to travel, but after about 3 weeks I am ready to come home to NJ. I still feel at home in the UK though.

Are you short, tall, or in-between? I am tall (just a shade over 5 foot 9). I was a tall kid, and I grew up to be a tall adult.

Do you still live near where you grew up, or did you end up living far away? I live 19.8 mi NW of my childhood home.

If you are still in the same area, did you ever live far away?
I tried to move to San Diego once; it was a disaster. A sad but interesting chapter for my memoirs.

What is the farthest you’ve ever been from home? I was a foreign service brat. We lived in Ankara, Turkey for three years when I was a teenager and yes, it was weird. Another chapter.

Do you get homesick, and if so, how long does it take to kick in? I hate staying in hotels for business meetings. Glad that part of my life is over.

Are you short, tall, or in-between? Short.

Some of these are going to take some explaination

Do you still live near where you grew up, or did you end up living far away? If you are still in the same area, did you ever live far away? What is the farthest you’ve ever been from home? Do you get homesick, and if so, how long does it take to kick in? “near where I grew up” — Jackson, Nederland, Lake Jackson, Alvin — and that takes us to 4th grade….Sharjah, Dubai, Austin (the 1st time)…..Algeria, Austria, Austin (2nd time), Saudi Arabia with boarding school in Austria again, and finally Austin for the 3rd time, from which I am never, ever, ever moving.

I decided (in 7th grade, actually – the 1st time I moved here) that Austin is as home-y as I’m gonna get. I couldn’t tell you anything about anyone I went to elementary school with, and only know 2, maybe 3 from junior high & high school. I always hate those security questions about the street you grew up on or your elementary school’s mascot. I have no clue. As for homesickness — since I am never ever under any circumstances leaving Austin, I wouldn’t know. (ok, I might someday get in good enough shape to do a 10 day bike tour around Ireland, if I ever do, and I get homesick, I’ll let you know)

Are you short, tall, or in-between? only easy one – short. 5 ft 2

I still live near where I grew up (Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC), and have lived within about ten miles of where I grew up all my life, except for about 6 months I spent in California in 1975.

I guess that would be Portland, OR.

I don’t recall ever having been homesick.

    Short.

  8. Its the Supreme Court Stupid

Do you still live near where you grew up, or did you end up living far away? I still live in the NYC area.

If you are still in the same area, did you ever live far away? Yup.  In Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

What is the farthest you’ve ever been from home? The Seychelles.

Do you get homesick, and if so, how long does it take to kick in? Not really.

Are you short, tall, or in-between? Yes.

  9. mikidee

Do you still live near where you grew up, or did you end up living far away? Nope and Nope, with an explanation, your Honor. I grew up in a suburb of Minneapolis, but for the past 30 years I’ve lived in or near St. Paul, which might as well be Omaha to most Minneapolitans. Only 22 miles from the family home but they’re day and night, apples and oranges, Felix and Jack ….

If you are still in the same area, did you ever live far away? Yes.

What is the farthest you’ve ever been from home? Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.

Do you get homesick, and if so, how long does it take to kick in? Nope.

Are you short, tall, or in-between? Short.

It’s good NOW…it was touch and go earlier, I was fasting for bloodwork and had to drive the car before coffee. That is extremely dangerous.

Do you still live near where you grew up, or did you end up living far away? If you are still in the same area, did you ever live far away?

I grew up in Northern CA, now live 3000 miles away in the jungles of suburban Maryland.

What is the farthest you’ve ever been from home?

Uhm….tap, tap, tap…Manchester, NH? Either that or Florida, my geography sucks.

Do you get homesick, and if so, how long does it take to kick in?

I spend every summer with my mom in NorCal, and it takes pretty much exactly six weeks before I get so squigy I have to leave. Not sure if that’s homesickness or momsickness 😉

Are you short, tall, or in-between?

Funny you should ask that, because I got measured this morning and I am 5’5″ and 3/4ths. Same height I have always been, I think. That makes me “average” height for a woman, but I wear a 30-inch inseam and all regular women’s pants seem to come with a 32 or 34-inch inseam, which explains why I wear men’s jeans. 😉

Do you still live near where you grew up, or did you end up living far away?

    * Currently far away and likely to stay that way.

If you are still in the same area, did you ever live far away?

    * I’ve yoyoed around… lived close, moved away, lived close, moved away.

What is the farthest you’ve ever been from home?

    * dunno.  turkey?  china? australia?  Need to do mapquest.

Do you get homesick, and if so, how long does it take to kick in?

    * almost never.  goes away very quickly when it comes.

Are you short, tall, or in-between?

    * little taller than avg.

bubbapod is quiet today.  miles to go…

    today’s answers:

Do you still live near where you grew up, or did you end up living far away? I live as far away as possible from where I grew up and still be in Texas.

What is the farthest you’ve ever been from home? somewhere in eastern Europe I think, have not traveled nearly as far as I’d like to

Do you get homesick, and if so, how long does it take to kick in? No because getting away from home motivated my entire childhood, don’t think I developed the same sense of home.

Are you short, tall, or in-between? short, which I make up for by having a hard time hanging onto weight

no, i grew up in iowa and i have lived in salt lake city for longer than i lived in iowa, by several years now.

    melbourne.

no, not for the home, but i can really miss my kids.

    medium short. 5’4″.

  15. princesspat

my life now…..is so far removed from the rural western ranch of my childhood.

farthest from home…..I was part of a study abroad program my sophomore year in college. Living in Saltzburg, Austria in the winter was quite an experience for 20 yr old me.

homesick…..I do, and it starts when I’m packing my bag to leave.

height…..short, and getting shorter:( I was surprised to measure just over 5′ recently….I used to be nearly 5’2″

    And found some interestings.

I thought, as some info has it, that Otis was a little older. I always thought he was @ 43/4/5/6 when he kicked off.

I met him, jammed with him and some of the Waters band, @’67 maybe ’68. I always remember because it was near the time of Otis Redding’s plane crash. Anyhow, Otis Spann gave me a little encouraging piano lesson where he was chording with his left hand, with his right arm around my shoulder, and I was trying to calmly play the top of each song with my right hand, and listening to his near whispered advice as the room filled up with the other musicians present and an all night jam materialized and flew past Saturday morning.

I took it as a sign to keep on with the keyboard as I had been moving over to, self-taught, from the drums. Otis Spann was a gentle loving genius and so kind to me it was astonishing.

Sometimes I have trouble with the F questions because so much is evoked I shy from answering.

I always thought Muddy one of the strongest people ever. And meeting them then was a window on how crazy it feels to be so adept on the rush of improvisation but frightenlingly alone with so few friends who understand the high. If there’s typos here, they’re gonna stay; cause the stupefone is past its comfort correcting zone.. out.

  17. Avilyn

I took the day off work since it’s supposed to be 72 and Sunny.  Figured I’d get a jump start on spring cleaning.

    Q&A:

Do you still live near where you grew up, or did you end up living far away? If you are still in the same area, did you ever live far away?  I’m still in the same state (NJ), but I currently live about 140 miles away from where I grew up.

What is the farthest you’ve ever been from home?  The furthest I ever lived away from home was when I went to college (also in NJ) which was 160 miles from home.  The furthest I’ve ever been was 2 weeks in Scotland for my wedding/honeymoon.

Do you get homesick, and if so, how long does it take to kick in?  It depends on where I am and what I’m doing.  Didn’t get homesick in Scotland, and would love to go back there.  Visited Chicago for a week while my husband was taking a seminar there, and was homesick after 3 days.

Are you short, tall, or in-between?  Tall for a woman – I’m 5’10” (and a half).

  18. raina

furthest I’ve ever been away from home is here in Tx. Homesick, hell yes.

    A bit taller than average.
