Sunday Morning Herd Check-in: Greetings of the Moosekin

Make sure you let your peeps know where to find you!

The morning check-in is an open thread posted to give you a place to visit with the meeses. Feel free to chat about your weather, share a bit of your life, grump (if you must), rave (if you can). The diarist du jour sometimes posts and runs, other times sticks around for a bit, often returns throughout the day and always cares that meeses are happy … or at least content.

For those new to the Moose, Kysen left a Moose Welcome Mat (Part Deux) so, please, wipe your feet before you walk in the front door start posting.

The important stuff to get you started:

– Comments do not Auto-refresh. Click the refresh/reload on your tab to see new ones. Only click Post once for comments. When a diary’s comment threads grow, the page takes longer to refresh and the comment may not display right away.

– To check for replies to your comments, click the “My Comments” link in the right-hand column (or go to “My Moose”). Comments will be listed and a link to Recent Replies will be shown. (Note: Tending comments builds community)

– Ratings: Fierce means Thumbs Up, Fail means Thumbs Down, Meh means one of three things: I am unFailing you but I can’t Fierce you, I am unFiercing after a mistaken Fierce, or Meh. Just Meh. (p.s. Ratings don’t bestow mojo, online behaviour does).

– Finally, the posting rules for a new diary: “Be excellent to each other… or else

(Some other commenting/posting/tending notes for newbies can be found in this past check-in and, of course, consult Meese Mehta for all your questions on meesely decorum.)

Today I will be absent, out of town at a youth basketball tournament and “phoning it in”. So my Fierce Weather Jar will be a simple temperature because posting photos from a phone is very tedious. Stay out of trouble, all y’alls!! And don’t forget to feed the cat:

Let the greetings begin!

High of 84 in sunny Florida expected today. Got some much needed rain yesterday. We had an OFA anti-gun violence vigil down the street later in the day yesterday that was well attended even though it did sprinkle on us. I am finally feeling a little better, got some Iron and vitamin D supplements and am trying coconut water, so something is helping? Hope you all have a great Sunday, now I have to go see what I’ve been missing around here.

It is going to be 70 degrees here today.  Cloudy but 70.  I am excited.  We are going to pack the garage today.  Where did we get all this stuff?  I blame the kids. : )

I see that Khloe is trying to stir up trouble. I always get drawn into these things and it never ends well.

this morning, we started out in the low 50s and should get to the low 90s today. For the moment there is no wind, just a steady less than 10 mph breeze. Sunday mornings are especially peaceful out here because the oil field shuts down until noon so everyone can go to church.

intensity from today to Thursday.  Don’t mind but will also allow for a nice crop of mosquitos.  Maybe this much rain will hold down the ant population, a plague I’m getting ready for.  One of the nice things about life in eastern Colorado is pretty much no bugs.  Few mosquitoes and ants and NO roaches. Gonna miss that too.

  9. The pollen is so bad here that just taking the garbage out covers me is yellow stuff and Pixie starts sneezing. Sigh!

I got the Pixster a new collar yesterday. Her other one was getting pretty ratty looking. Pixie should be a Country Western star the way she likes bling. This collar had the most bling on it. She is a happy girl.

It’s a blue morning and cooler (47°F) with gusty winds predicted. I have the space heater on to take the edge off the chill.

    Wishing everyone a happy Sunday!

Yesterday’s morning rain was suspiciously white and fluffy, but by afternoon the sun was shining. My gluten free version (buttermik, gf breadcrumbs, parsley, salt and pepper) of my old fried chicken recipe was better that I thought it would be, so our family lunch was both tasty and fun.

I need an other day to rest before we leave for round two of packing RonK’s mothers house though, so we’ll leave on Tuesday and be in eastern Wa. the rest of the week. I’ve been taking photos of the whole process and have made her 2 albums so she can just look at the photos whenever she wants to. I also plan to fill the walls of her assisted living space with as many of her things as I can…..it will be more visually stimulating than spending hours in two rooms with bare walls. Especially when she was used to living with so many collectibles.

It will be a busy week so I need to be physically (and mentally) ready to cope!

Little on the cloudy side today, but it’s going to be warm. The forecast calls for 88, I’m betting we clear 90 before all is said and done. Good day for mowing lawns, the youngest son isn’t impressed with that particular assignment.

Working on laundry today, getting everyone situated for the work/school week ahead. Menus prepared, goals for the week all that good stuff. Easy supper menu tonight, family favorite–meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, sliced tomatoes, cornbread and sweet tea. And then it’s Game of Thrones time!

but by the time i punch post it’ll be afternoon.

one of the bubba juniors was driving around for who-knows-how-long with his “check engine” light on (thanks, Obama).  Not knowing how to decode, I took it to the shop.  Yikes.  the estimate for 900 bucks, 400 of which was associated with check engine (thanks, Obama).  So I paid ’em the 95 bucks it takes to hook the thing up to the computer and brought it home.  Looked over the estimate and figured, well, I can do most of this.  Went to pep boys, bought plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, air filter, and replaced ’em all. So much for research and writing over the weekend (thanks, Obama).  that was yesterday’s day.

on the other hand, it’s kinda nice for a computer nerd and math teacher to get some grease on the hands and accomplish something tangible.

And then the coffee maker died this morning.  Thanks, Obama.

    Happy Sun Day, folks…
