Do you think that nature or nurture has a greater part in how we turn out?

Do you consider yourself to be mainstream?

  1. Do you think that nature or nurture has a greater part in how we turn out?

Very short answer: Mu (see Godel Escher Bach. This “unasks” the question.

Short answer: I think the question cannot be answered due to the fact that nature and nurture interact.

    Long answer: Nature nurture nonsense

Do you consider yourself to be mainstream?

    Bwahahahahaha!

Are there any rituals you like to perform for any reason (perhaps just daily activities that have become almost a ritual for you)?

Well, I tend to shower and brush my teeth every day :-).  Most days, I even get dressed!

I can’t think of any rituals in the sense you mean, though.

Do you like to participate in scary activities like skydiving, hang gliding and bungee jumping or do you prefer to watch from a place of safety?

Neither. I don’t like being scared and I don’t like watching people being scared.

That looks like a silent film I’d love to see 🙂

No, I don’t think I’m mainstream, though I look a lot like people who are. It’s just in my nature.

I have a humming ritual which is so deeply engrained that I’m often not aware of it, except when performing scary activities like mopping the floor. I don’t get much beyond that for adventure these days.

  4. Do you think that nature or nurture has a greater part in how we turn out? Definitely nurture

Do you consider yourself to be mainstream? No definitely not. I intend to be just plain weird in my old age.

Are there any rituals you like to perform for any reason (perhaps just daily activities that have become almost a ritual for you)? Other than morning coffee no

Do you like to participate in scary activities like skydiving, hang gliding and bungee jumping or do you prefer to watch from a place of safety? When I was younger and more agile I’d participate. Now I’ll let the youngsters be the daredevils.

Do you think that nature or nurture has a greater part in how we turn out? Nurture

Do you consider yourself to be mainstream? absolutely not

Are there any rituals you like to perform for any reason (perhaps just daily activities that have become almost a ritual for you)? I do a morning libation at sunrise

Do you like to participate in scary activities like skydiving, hang gliding and bungee jumping or do you prefer to watch from a place of safety? eek – no, I’m a coward.  I can’t even watch that stuff

nature or nurture….being the mother of fraternal twins has made me very aware of the complexity of this question! They were born as different babies requiring different parenting skills, yet with a remarkable emotional bond that remains strong 42 years later.

mainstream…..my life was so busy I blew through middle age, and now much to my amazement I find I’m old…..and have much more in common with people my age than I ever thought I did!

rituals…..a time of quiet reflection every day

scary activities…no thanks. My western ranch childhood and being the mother of four adventurous kids  has been enough scary times for me. The safer the better now!

Do you think that nature or nurture has a greater part in how we turn out? 1/3 nature, 2/3 nurture.

Do you consider yourself to be mainstream? No

Are there any rituals you like to perform? I suspect many of my daily activities have become rituals.

Do you like to participate in scary activities like skydiving, hang gliding and bungee jumping?

Not quite that scary, but I loved parasailing and taking pictures out of a helicopter, like this one in the Bahamas.

I think a person has a set of genes that set limits to what is possible, but that nurture has a lot to do with how those genes are expressed.

Mainstream what?  I don’t have mainstream tastes or beliefs, but I lead a life that most people would find ordinary.

Rituals around the computer.  I’ve got certain blogs I read and websites I frequent.  And I do the Washington Post crossword puzzles every day.

I used to want to skydive, hang glide, or go into outer space, but now I just want to live.  And I have never found bungee jumping appealing.  So I’ll just watch, thanks.

Do you think that nature or nurture has a greater part in how we turn out? Probably nurture, but there is the nature factor (not necessarily from genes, but temperament, etc.)

Do you consider yourself to be mainstream? Not in the least.

Are there any rituals you like to perform for any reason (perhaps just daily activities that have become almost a ritual for you)? I have to work out or do a bit of yoga every day.

Do you like to participate in scary activities like skydiving, hang gliding and bungee jumping or do you prefer to watch from a place of safety? I hate all that stuff. Don’t understand why anyone would put her/himself in danger on purpose. I don’t understand why anyone wants to climb Mount Everest, either. 🙂
