Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

I Did It

I quit my job today.

Thanks to everyone here who offered advice and support.  I can’t tell you what precipitated this without revealing the company.  Let’s just say that there have been multiple “last straws,” which shed light on some questionable ethics & practices, and I’d rather not work in that situation.

Now I’ve sent in my resignation letter, giving notice that I’m leaving before the end of the year.  I’m waiting to hear back from the company on the resignation.  I’ve told none of my co-workers and none of my clients, so this is all about to unfold.

In the meantime, I’ve got some potential jobs in various stages of development, and we’ll be eating lots of rice and beans until we know what happens next!!

I’m excited, sad, relieved and terrified all at once.  Thanks for being with me on this journey!

In the meantime, this Rare Earth song is one of my favorites of all times.  The music and the lyrics are just awesome, and felt particularly apropos.  If you’ve got other musical suggestions, please share!

Good luck in your hunt..it sounds like you have made the right decision.

Don’t know that I’d call the music and lyrics awesome…but, they are perhaps apropos.  /grin

  2. Monday I changed my relationship from employee to advisor, and I am much happier about things. Focusing on my own little business, Shine Solutions (google translate Blask ;~) working with multiple folks about multiple things.

hoping for the best for you. I’ve never regretted walking away from a bad job because the return of peace of mind is my favorite choice. The rest of it will resolve itself over time but feeling uncomfortable with company ethics gets worse.

…no big surprises here.  It has been very uncomfortable the past week, as I’m not supposed to tell anyone I’m leaving.  So I’m just doing my work and for the time being, pretending like I’m not leaving.

Of course, my boss called me this morning and said they are sending me an “update” on my severance pay.  To me, this indicates they are going to fight me on what is owed.

Not surprised at all, but disappointed, since this should be pretty clear cut.
